Thanks for your good wishes, AWK.

Mile End is in east London so a club based there could reasonably be expected to be affiliated to the London FA.

The first team I saw play there, Tower Hamlets FC, were a London club and played in the London Spartan League. When Crown & Manor started groundsharing, they were also a London Spartan League side but, when that League merged with the South Midlands League, they ended up in the Middlesex County League but continued playing at the Mile End Stadium until they dropped out of Saturday football at the end of last season.

By that time, they were now sharing with Sporting Bengal United who had been turned down by the Essex Senior League due to the ground not being suitable for senior football but surprisingly (and to the chagrin of the Essex Senior league and a few people at the FA) were accepted as a senior club by the Kent League.

More controversy happened at the start of this season when Beaumont Athletic came from junior football (bypassing the normal promotion routes in the non league pyramid) to fill the gap left by Crown & Manor. Because they were playing at a ground that now had senior status (courtesy of the Kent League) and were coming from outside the pyramid, they were allowed to enter directly into the Essex Senior League and leapfrog a number of Essex Olympian League clubs who, because they were already part of the pyramid, were not considered to be eligible for promotion as they didn't finish high enough in their current league!

Nothing like a good bit of politics, is there?
