I would say that's a good taster for an end-of-season DVD because although it shows all the highlights it is not a good picture quality. A DVD of the same action (and a bit more) will be ten times better quality.

So on the one hand you are suggesting we pay out for conference.tv and then you tell us that the quality is rubbish and we should pay for something else? I'm confused wink

The club is only protecting its commercial interest from those who might be seen to be exploiting it. I would hope that it would have no objection to the odd personal photo of a youngster with his/her favourite player taken during the warm-up.

I have enjoyed Graham's clips (especially the ones in focus) taken with the new camera the quality is excellent especially in full screen and I can understand why interested parties may be taking notice.

In not wishing to bring any potential embarassment on the club I can appreciate his reasons for stopping. As The Cameraman says as an alternative why not pay to see the clips on Conference TV (its not rubbish quality - who said it was ?). Its not fantastic quality either but it is only about £5 a month and it's another way of supporting the club financially, as I presume they see some of the money.

Any-way thanks to Graham for the time and effort he has put in to filming, downloading and posting the clips in the past.

As I say, I'm not a Conference TV employee, but I would say it is definitely worth subscribing to.

I even have to do so myself to watch my own footage on there would you believe !

It's good to see other matches and from my point of view how the club cameramen have filmed them and where their vantage points are at their grounds.

I'm sure Chris blanc knows that I didn't say it was 'rubbish'...hence the smiley in his message.

What I meant was that Conference TV is only a small screen in a reduced video format (for web streaming) whereas a DVD will be a full-size screen in DVD quality. The camerawork is still the same.

Dear Mr. Cameraman, firstly thanks for the plug & link to my site, though I don't suppose many visitors to this forum will be interesting in AFC Wimbledon video.

I'd like to take issue with some of your points about DonsOnline while I have the opportunity:

1. We do not show virtually the whole match - we usually post between 6 & 10 minutes of action depending on how good the match is.

2. The only time I have ever surreptitiously filmed was away to Braintree last season, when warned by the Kemps (AFCW official cameramen) that they had been denied permission to film & I would probably be stopped if spotted.

I have informal permission from AFCW to film home matches, I am assisted most matchdays by officials, who make sure I have a reasonable view of the far goal, as people can sometimes obscure my view when delivering messages to the PA etc.

3. I have mailed the Kemps to see if they want me to change anything I do - note that I have supplied video to them for matches they could not attend & (I believe) we have a very good working relationship.

4. I am aware that Conference video is copyright, but considering this was a Trophy match, I thought there would probably not be an issue (I did get advance permission from Exeter & Aldershot earlier in the season) and tried to do so from G&N. If G&N had responded to my emails I may have been aware that I would not be allowed to film prior to match day.

Apologies re Point 1.
What I really meant by 'virtually the whole match' was 'all the meaningful highlights'. That's enough to put AFCW supporters off attending Away matches though.

Re Point 4....Yes, the F.A. Trophy is a bit of a 'rights free-for-all', but as the resident Home Club Cameraman, I had the right to say who should be allowed to film the game and the club agreed with me on that.
Charlie Kemp is an old mate of mine and the club agreed that he could come up in the gantry with me (as the official AFC Wimbledon Club Cameraman) and do a two-camera shoot (we both use the same brand of camera). This was with a view to selling copies on DVD to whichever club won...of course neither club really won the match in the end so we didn't sell any, but that's sod's law ! achso

For obvious reasons I told the club office staff to deny DonsOnline permission to film should you e-mail or phone them requesting to do so, and for the stewards to stop you filming on the day should you attempt to do so without permission...as happened. (Sorry if that caused you any embarrassment).
When I went in the office before the game they told me nobody from Donsonline had contacted them, so I don't know where your e-mail(s) must have gone.

I do actually have some degree of sympathy for you and our own Graham S. You are obviously 'super-keen fans' of your respective clubs and you are providing a service which is useful for many.
However, official club cameramen like myself are invariably full-time professionals and we have no option but to protect our own interests.

Thanks for your polite & complete reply.

I really don't have an issue with not being able to film at G&N, especially as I hadn't managed to get permission beforehand, and was caused no embarrassment at all.

I'm not sure how many decide not to travel due to my service, but given our travelling hordes, I'd assume the percentage is pretty insignificant.

End of thread as far as I'm concerned, so good luck in the future.
