a massive win today, was a bit nervy before and during the game as there a good side. But got the early penalty then they scored but the second half we were superb. Daishy has got a wicked half time talk because it seems to work of late.

Big win bring on Oxford next week i be there.

WILL YOU? yay

Several reasons it was so important;

it keeps our unbeaten run going,

it was a genuine "6" pointer

it opens a bit of a gap on those below us, who cannot overtake us with their game in hand.

Mostly, though because I thought Morecambe were as good a side as I have seen this year, with quality passing and movement and an attacking line up of 4-3-3 / 3-4-3, which caused out defence a number of problems.

If we win our game in hand over York and Oxford we will go second, even taking into account the games in hand of the teams below. If we beat Oxford we will be in a very strong position indeed. I just hope we get plenty of fans making the trip to cheer the boys on. I'll be there!

The next three games will make or break the season.

Anything at Oxford will be a bonus.

A win at Woking is a must.

Northwich could give us a nice cup run if we loose both the previous games. A deafeat will not be the end of the world.

Very intresting month ahead. I hope we get pleanty fo support at Oxford and Woking

I do think the luck is staying with us at present - the penalty surely wasnt really a penalty, was it? At least half a dozen people around me, virtually directly behind the linesman couldnt believe it was given & I dont think Charlie was expecting it either.

We certainly werent brilliant today, but there were flashes of the quality of the team - the move leading to Charlie's miss in the last minute of the 1st half was quality as was the cross by Long & finish by Ledgister for the 2nd goal.

I still worry about the right back slot - that always seems to be our biggest concern at present if we play 3-5-2.

I made Charlie MOM today - he was everywhere - how many other forwards get back into their own half and hold the ball up so well - I really cant believe that no-one looked at him in the Jan transfer window.

McShane didnt look at his most solid today & it was rather a soft goal to concede.

Still, an excellent 3 points - lets maintain the momentum in the away games coming up - Oxford, Woking & Kiddy wont be easy & I'll settle for 5 pts from those games.

I was there today and it was great to see the Fleet win, I tihkn I have been lucky this season, been back to Stonebridge Round on 6 occassions and seen a positive result every time. It was a battle today against a very good side. We dug in and secured the 3 points which is what you need to do to finish near the top of the table. Charlie Mac worked hard, Long was good, Quinn does a job which is unheralded in midfield. The defence did look a little under pressure at times, but they battle and I think we just about deserved the win. All the games are big now, and I hope the Fleet can keep going.

According to one thicko on the Morecambe site we should be almost relegation fodder. Still if we are then Morecambe would be in Conf. North.

I quote : "Make no mistake Gravesend are in fact rubbish as are a lot of the teams in the Conference this season yet what does that make us? It raises questions about the standard of the league but that is for debate elsewhere."

In actual fact most around me thought it was a technically very good game - with both sides employing attacking line ups and playing a passing game, with little evidence of route 1 stuff.

The other pleasing thing, after the reported R&D brutality (I wasn't there) was that I cannot recall a bad tackle that had either set of supporters or players howling in protest.

I wouldn't take it too personally Gary, this is a crap league on the basis that it's the fifth best league in the country. Not an insult though, it is infact a complament. Last season we were 15th in a crap league and now we're fourth. Well done to Liam, his staff, all at the club and the lads who have kept going and for trying to get us out of this Tinpot league.

You can sleep easily tonight, Harry, I certainly am not taking it personally.

The most crappy thing about this league (usually) are the officials, although the ref today was ok (for us at least).

Pitches are better than 25 years ago, fitness levels are up, stadiums are better (apart from ours) and the football is of a higher standard.

Compared to 4 years ago, not a lot has changed.

Have a feeling avatars are only visible now if you are signed in, though I was signed in last night & couldn't see Tubby M. All invisible this morning until I signed in - then presto all there.

And a good second half move by him, too, to bring on Ricketts (nice to see him back again) to shore up our right side, since that's where Morecambe were having a lot of their attacking joy.

Ledgister was a reasonable choice for MOTM, but I would have gone for Opinel, whose commitment was superb and who got us out of a few second half scrapes.

Didn't play as well as we have done today, but that was to be expected, a heavy pitch from the melted snow and rain we've had recently (Well done to the groundsmen for getting the match playable), but a good performance none the less. I didn't really like the timewasting towards the end, but thats part of the game now. I couldn't tell about the penalty, as I was at the Plough end but a good finish from Charlie for his 20th of the season. I think we probably missed Slatter today, but Ledgister was a suitable replacement. A very good win on the whole!

What did Bentley do that incensed the people by the drum?
