Race Night

We are planning to hold a race night at the "Blue Gate" on Friday the 9th of March at 7-30. Entry will be £5 and include a hot supper. Monies raised on the evening will be donated to the Reserves/U18 set up.

Tony Cook has generously said he will run the floor for us, thank you Tony.

we are hoping to run a 8 race card, so it should be a action packed night.

Can any one tell me how this works, as I may come along

If I remember rightly they show films of horse races with 8 horses but you only have a commentary mentioning the numbers.

As usual you bet on the horse number you want to win and get a pay out if it wins.

The odds usually depend on the numbers betting on each horse, so obviously short odds if loads bet on one horse, longer odds if not so many! I am sure Cookie will give us a run down how things work later. We did one at our Social club years ago, its a fun evening even if you lose!

Correct Alan.Its done on a Tote basis.Its very simple to play & you need have no knowledge of racing to play.Its pot luck really.As you say the more the tickets sold on a runner the lower the odds & vice versa.But no-one will be aware of how many tickets have been sold on each runner when they place a bet.Only after bets have been made(but before the race is run) will people be aware of where the money has been placed.Very enjoyable evenings.
