To me it would feel a bit weird leaving the Ryman, and we'd miss going to some nice grounds (Kingstonian, Dartford, Tooting and I quite liked Leatherhead too). But overall, I think the Southern would be better for the club and might give us more of a chance to get back on our feet as the hunt for a move back to Slough continues.

I wouldn't bet on it as the Southern League don't seem to go too much non the big derby's unlike the Ryman.

Look at our fixtures this season, Boxing Day away at Hanwell Town and Easter Monday at home to Hillingdon Borough.

After watching the game between Burnham and Beaconsfield yesterday, i hope Wilko can do the impossible, and stop us getting relegated.

No disrespect to either teams, and i know the pitch was very muddy, but the football wasn't up too much, but worse was the atmosphere. 250 there and not a sound apart from the players.

Welcome to the village football league.

Agree that yesterdays Burnham game was poor, always is a poor game against Beaconsfield, however, that is five staright wins so cant be bad. My point, however, is that is that bearing in mind you have signed six players, currently playing in your first team, deamed NOT GOOD ENOUGH for the Burnham team & released accordingly. How do you think those players will cope in the same league they have been playing in for the last fews years without making any impact? Oh, I it is also with pointing out, that before suggesting these other teams are "beneath you", Burnham did actuallt beat you pre-season when you supposedly had a decent team. Say no more! The team you have at the moment would finish mid table in the southern league, at best. Harsh but true.

Such a shame as people feel sorry for Slough but some fans think they have some sort of divine right to play at a high level just because they did a few years ago. Then again that happens at all levels of football so maybe it's hard to blame slough fans.

Yes the level of football below the ryman prem is not as good but that's a given. To call it 'village' is abit harsh look at our results against higher level sides this season. Having not seen the Slough side this season i cannot say where you will finish but i'd be amazed if you did anything in that league with little money

I am sorry the football was not up to the standard you hoped you would see. We all try our best, Burnham and Beaconsfield matches tend to always be a little scrappy. Anyway welcome to the 'village football league'. It may well come the end of this season that Burnham will be playing in the Southern League Premier and Beaconsfield may have to drop to the Spartan. If that does happen we wish you all the best in your new league.

'village football league'?

i do belive we beat a team in the FA Trophy HIGHER in the league than slough this season.

just because you played in the conference nearly 10 years ago, what gives you the right to think tht you are 'too big a club' to play lower than Ryman Premier?

er....i think you will find that a lot of the slough fans on this board have accepted that relegation is coming and think that it could in the long term be a good move (if they didnt they wouldnt be hanging around).

personally i dont see why the clubs history should even come up in this, the only part thats vaguely relevant now is the years of money troubles and surviving at this level for so long. it should be nothing to do with playing in the conference. i think that it will be better for us to drop down, maybe for a few seasons.

i would pick the southern, lots of local games!

It's not just Slough I'm sure - fans of other clubs do the same.

If Windsor had spent a number of enjoyable years in the Conference, reached an Amateur Cup final at Wembley, played derbies with local rivals in front of 7,000+ and been to the semis of the FA Trophy, I'm certain you'd all be slightly cheesed off too, and bleating about the fact that you're now playing the likes of ....... at a neutral venue instead of the 'good old days' against the likes of Stevenage, Yeovil, Wycombe etc at your half-decent old ground in your home town.

Yes it might seem arrogant but it's only one comment after all, and just remember that the past is all we have left to cling on to with the mess we're in. We're not in any position to be climbing the ladder at the moment anyway, but we'll be back wink

The post about village football was from me, and I forgot to sign in.

I wasn't dissing either Burnham or Beaconsfield. I support local football, and went along with other Slough fans to watch a game.

If i felt those clubs were beneath me, I wouldn't have gone in the first place. I watched Oldham recently and prefered yesterdays game, because non league seems more real.

Like i said the football wasn't up to much and the pitch really didn't help, but what really depressed me was the fact that 250 people could be so quiet.

Whether you like it or not Burnham, Windsor, Beaconsfield and a host of other teams in that league are lucky to get 200 people. They are not massive footballing towns, and never will be.

Just like any football club, Slough have no divine right to play at the top level of non league, but i think reality hit me just where we probably will be playing next season. Sorry Southern league, but i prefer to be going to Dulwich, Dover and Tooting any day of the week. (although Newport Isle of Wight would be a good weekend away).

Hammerman, the officials are all appointed to the Ryman, Southern and Unibond Prem / 1st Divs by the FA from a central group of officials, unlike the old days were the leagues had their own lists of officials.

So to say that the officials are better in the Ryman isn't quite right.

Basically, they are all just poor!! achso
