I think we need to appreciate and recognise the efforts made by all club secretaries when they work very much part time and probably in an honourary capacity.

Maybe raise a glass to KTomlinson and fingers crossed we never have similar issues.

In a way I do also feel for the fans, and the players, as it isn out of their control. But as others have said: it is the same for all clubs.

Also agree with MM's comments on K Tomlinson.

In terms of the size of the reduction of points due to having an inelegible player compared to entering administration etc, I would have thought that you have to somehow vary the penalty depending on how many games the certain player has featured in.

Out of interest, guys, why so much hate directed at the club? They seemed OK in the Trophy game against us and I'd rather have them around than MK Franchise Hockey Club.

Or would I understand if we were in the same league as them?!

Its obviously hidden away somewhere in the rule book?

But what I cannot quite get my mind round is....why on earth should an English club need to get international clearance to sign and allow a player to participate in matches played in England, when he has been signed from a club that plays in the English League?

I could understand it if the player was signed from a club that played in the Welsh National League (or whatever its called), clubs like Bangor City, TNS, or the likes..but Cardiff City?

Yes they are probably affiliated to the Welsh FA, but they must also be affiliated to the English FA, otherwise surely they would not be allowed to enter the FA Cup or play first team football in the Coca Cola Championship.

I suppose the one ironic thing to come out of this whole saga, is that Cardiff City's ex-chairman was Sam Hamman...the former chairman of Wimbledon!

In reply to Stu M I personally do not understand why some of our fans hate them so much. We've had dirtier and more cheating teams play us, AFC's fans have behaved impecaballly and we get more revenue so it's all good and to me they are the "real" Dons.

Perhaps those fans would like to explain their reasons eh?

Maybe an English book too Steve, as you should always start a sentence with a capital letter wink

The rule is indeed disproportionate, and should be altered. Hopefully AFC Dons' appeal will go some way to convincing the FA to do this. But while it exists, and especially after the much-publicized Alty saga last season, clubs should be extra-careful with player registration, and will only have themselves to blame if they fall foul of it.

As I understand it they were deducted points gained for every game the offending player played, which was a total of eleven matches. As it took so long to discover you have to ask two questions

1) Why didn't the Ryman League spot the discrepancy - the registration of the player must have been rubber stamped?

They surely have to face some sort of penalty too

2) How do you penalise in such a situation ?

I'd suggest they have to replay those games in a three week period at the end of the season (a tough task, but it gives them the chance to recoup the points ... any revenue AFC would get from those games pays a fine as a punishment.
