I think you can take it that she most definitely will want 4x £12 from your group.

Judging by the number, you must have been with the group coming from Maidstone, which after a 'phone call was made revealed that you had left and were on your way to catch the coach? That is what the caller on the coach was told. So we waited as long as we could before leaving. Nothing about playing football elsewhere!

So then you book up to go on the coach, which due to the numbers of people interested the Trust books up, then the day before the event you decide not to go leaving the Trust out of pocket? Very bad practice in my oppinion, what if everybody did that leaving the Trust with a £400 coach to pay for? As far as I'm concerned as soon as you add your name to the list it's a contract and if you can't keep your side of the bargin thats your problem. There are obviously things that get you out of this, breaking you leg for example, not playing football.

No-one's necessarily blaming him, but as COE said, 24-30 hours notice for a sizeable number of people to pull out when the price of the coach is likely dependent on them should probably be met with a gesture other than " No I won't be paying anything.".

Some interesting viewpoints - some valid and some which are a little unfortunate.

It was thought that in order to make it more accessible then people wouldn't be asked to pay on booking - to save people having to find £30 to pay to get in to the home game and stump up for the coach.

It always used to be pay before travel but people moaned but then they were moaners who turned up.

Phonecalls are so much better than emails when you are cancelling.

No profit is made from away travel but no losses can be made either. As someone (I think Dave) mentioned earlier why should non away travel using trust members subsidise others?

It's disappointing that people think it's acceptable to sign up for something and then not turn up and then have a "don't care" attitude.

surely having to pay for entry at the away ground aswell as for the coach on the day of travel creates the same money problem as paying to get into the home game and paying for the coach when booking your place. at least if you pay when booking you wont lose out

I guess it all boils down to your own morality.

Fleet 4 Ever - you indicated you would travel & then cancelled just about 24 hours before the event.

Perhaps you should compare this to a holiday - if you book a holiday, and then cancel it, you will lose anything from your deposit (usually c 10% of cost) to the full price of the holiday (if cancelling at short notice).Indeed, the other comparison (& maybe the better one) would be with theatre tickets - were you to cancel those 24 hours beforehand you would forfeit the full cost, unless the tickets were resold before the show.

Whilst I appreciate that its an honour being picked for your County, and it would have been impossible to reject this, I really think you should "take it on the chin" and honour your coach fare with Jess - lets face it, if you had travelled, it would have cost you your entry money, plus programme if you get one) plus burger (or other food unless you were taing sandwiches), so whilst you may feel its "money for nothing" if you pay, you will still have paid out only a small potion of your costs were you to have travelled.

I think your mates should be prepared to meet their commitments as well.

I have to say I'm surprised a County team would only phone 4 players the day before a game - it certainly leaves them open to players not being available & presumably leaving them with a much weakened team.

Perhaps if the Trust dont want to be paid in full at time ofbooking, and simply applies a deposit on booking system and people dont then turn up, they should ban individuals from further travel until they pay the balance of their booking.
