Well done Ian for getting the forum back.

Its a win,so never mind the performance.

Many factors: cold, delay, no PS,Tuesday night, carlshalton probably better than their league position suggests.

Fantatic result.

From the commentary, it sounds as though SCS had to make a few good saves-especialy in last 15 minutes. Was he our mom

Delighted for Greg-he normally gets about 3 goals per season-normally from curling free kicks which he is not taking this season for some reason- so another couple on saturday would be nice.

How did Danny Dolton play -looks like he is going to get a few games over the next 6 weeks !!

Aaaah, Greg's goal.

Deano dinks a little spinner past a defender along the side line to Danny on the left, he turns with a defender on his back, spots Greg steaming up the right wing, lofts a terrific cross the width of the pitch, which, with pinpoint accuracy finds Greg's feet, and without breaking his stride, he powers in on goal and unleashes an unstoppable pile-driver into it.

A move of stunning beauty and vision and I don't really care that we played fairly pants until that moment because it was truly fine and we won.

Sounds a brilliant goal. I must say the game sounded good via Wellsie's commentary, sounded like we had most of the play until Abbott got sent off. I don't think my laryngitis would have been helped last night if I had come to the match. I hope you have all defrosted now!

poor game the defence was good wide players abbot and dalton may not as well have been therethe ref noticed this and did us a favour by sending abbot off(it didnt look as if he wanted to be there anyway)service to danny was non existant.pinnock ran all night and tries very hard to make up for lack of effort by others.great goal from nowhere by gregg.we will have to improve a lot to get anything saturday as im sure tonbridge will be a lot better than that lot tonite

Not very well unfortunatly looked really tired after 10mins(in fairness not much match fitness over last couple of months)Crowd got on he's back early on and did'nt help he's confidence. No worst than Abbo both could'nt pass wind and got caught on the ball far to often. Hopefully DD will be fitter after tonights game as your right with all the suspensions flying about we are going to need the fringe players over the next month.

I thought Dan looked match fit, but not match sharp, if you know what I mean. He needs to play.

Other observations, Pinns played some of the best stuff I have seen in the first half, Abbo was good in the first too but faded in the second. Jay very solid at the back, and Proths had a good game. Scotty was wonderful. Deano made a difference when coming on, would like to see him make more starts, probably will when the suspensions kick in. I would personally have played Dan more in the middle and left Jimmy on the wing, as we missed his service/crosses to the forwards. Skins was impressive at the back. Danny had a good captain's game, and was actively encouraging and using his voice. Trotty is after more headed goals and nearly got one (Danny, duck!).

The pitch was a bit wooden in the middle, despite the wonderful efforts of Ray, plays much better out wide, but it is improving so let's hope we do not get a lot of white or wet stuff.

Do you mean that RT had a header that hit DH on the line.

Don't wish to say-'told you so' but i refer back to my post about the wasted tactic of 3 Margate players on the line at corners.

2 can do what three can do,and its just more people to get in the way of a goalbound attempt

First half we played well and should have gone in at least two up at half-time. However, Carshalton raised their game after the interval and gave us a real test.

I thought last night showed how badly we miss McKimm. Proths is not exactly Mr 50-50. We needed rather more bite in midfield. Of course, Jay was playing at the back (for understandable reasons) where he was excellent.

Noticed one or two old buggers grumbling about Dalton - I think people should bear in mind how few minutes of football he has had in the last couple of months.

Came across this on the carlshalton site:

'but there keeper pulled of what i would call 4 world class stops'.

Sounds like he had a blinder last night- the photo by Margate Don's photo of him sprawling low down to his left looks like an incredible stopas low shots are probably the hardest to save-

In a way, i hope SCS was injured for Hampton and Harrow. You can't help but wonder whether we would have conceded 7 goals and secured just one point if SCS had played in those games.

Trott headed from about 12 yards out and it was a soft header which the keeper would have easily saved and Hockton from 7 yards our headed it on in the opposite direction, but went over.f
