Greg Dyke - It must have been a huge honour for Brentford Football Club to host such a prestigious match at Griffin Park, you say they didn't make much from the game however ticket prices were £25 and upwards so surely the Bees coffers were increased substantially

I would say that a fair chunk of the money went to the respective FA's....Brentford made a little, but not a huge amount..as I have stated, I believe there were quite a few free tickets going around on the evening...and dodgy press passes, etc

 

The local community were well served out of the event though

The local shop keepers and pubs did well too, the souvenier shop also looked busy, presumably they got in a lot of Nigeria and Ghana merchandise to sell on the night. It was just an incredible occasion from start to finish and my most memorable football experience in over forty years of watching the beautiful game.

Strangely enough that was my worst experience in over forty years of watching football, it was unbelievable how the game was allowed to go ahead and then not abandoned on 55 minutes when the Referee took the two teams off the field of play only to bring them back with the pitch ankle deep in water and advertising hoardings and roof slates flying all over the place. I know we were losing 1-0 at the time but I would have said the same if we were leading 5-0.
