Nigeria v Ghana Tonight at Brentford

Recommended Posts

Folks - Just to inform you of my whereabouts this evening incase you happened to be wondering where I was. I have been invited to the Nigeria v Ghana friendly at Brentford as 'a VIP' guest of 'the messiah' namely Clement Temile, this will clearly be a great honour as I gather there will be an extremely high profile presence at the game including royalty and politicians from all over Africa. I'll endeavour to get back early to tell you all about it, perhaps in the mean time you might want to run a prediction league to see how many people go down on bended knee tonight in front of 'the messiah' in a 'we are not worthy' fashion and I'll do my best to keep an accurate count.

You mean you're going to stand next to him on the terrace?

Rhodes, Because Clement reguards you as a VIP doesnt mean anyone else does! And i like the way you wrote that! you are going as a VIP guest of Clements, and not of any of the involved Federations, so in reality Clement got a ticket and after ringing round his mountains of friends and family (even his abandoned son - although he couldnt get a flight over to see daddy) he ended up asking you! i say that it happened that way as you have only just told us you are going which meant you found out today!! if they where REAL VIP tickets from the African Federation and Clement was that important wouldnt he have had the tickets before the actual day of the match? If the tickets where given to Clement by the an African FA i wonder how many "stars" they offered them to before they gave them to him.

Also rhodes being such a fan of Haringey and with such an important match going on there tonight i thought you would have attended the game, and lend your supposed support! instead you are going to sit on a cold terrace and have a bovril with a mate

tut tut tut and theres me thinking you bled Yellow and green?

Paula - I think you would have struggled to get a ticket love as they were like gold dust and surely you wouldn't have wanted to miss the Canvey match. Eventful is one way of putting it I suppose, it was like Rangers v Celtic, Liverpool v Everton, Arsenal v Spurs, Real Madrid v Barcelona and Inter v AC Milan all rolled into one, I've never seen anything like it in over 40 years of watching the beautiful game and yes there were pitch invasions after every goal Ronnie Radford Hereford v Newcastle style, the Brentford groundsman must have had kittens. As for 'the messiah' I barely talked to him all night as everyone wanted a piece of him, he was constantly asked for his autograph and for photographs although surprisingly only two people went down in front of him in a 'we are not worthy' fashion, I expected a lot more than that.

Mock all you like but you had to be at Griffin Park last night to believe your eyes, I was there and it still seems like a dream Bobby and Pam Ewing style. To be honest I didn't really know what to expect before 'the messiah' kindly invited me to the game as his 'VIP' guest and I half expected it to be a drab 0-0 draw with just 3-4000 present however the atmosphere made the FA Cup, Champions League and World Cup Finals seem Hackney Marshes like and I'm still lost for words 24 hours later. I also hadn't fully appreciated how incredibly popular Clement still is with his fellow Nigerians or disciples would be a better word to use, it was quite surreal to see hundreds of people doing double takes and then frantically reaching for their cameras and autograph books.

As half the population of both Nigeria and Ghana seem to live in London, it's perhaps no surprise that there was a good attendance. (I assume that we can take it that this was so - haven't seen the official gate). As to the "VIP" bit, sounds like another bit of Rhodesworld. Where did you sit/stand? Were you guests of the Nigerian Federation? Did you get pre/post match hospitality?

Attendance was about 7000, making GP about half full, think capacity is in the region of 13-14000.

VIP bit at GP ha, Horace your too funny. They just get different coloured seats!!! And a small room to consume tea and biscuits.

Yes excellent hospitality in the boardroom at griffin park, but although the seats are padeed, leg room is a bit restricted in the front row.

And the rest, if the attendance was 7000 then I'm a Dutchman. The kick off was delayed to 8.20 and even then the queues outside were about a mile long, Griffin Park was totally the wrong venue to hold such a prestigious match and Chelsea, Spurs or West Ham would have been far more appropriate. As for the hospitality it was second to none on what was a very cold night, even Hillingdon Borough would have been hard pressed to match it and I found myself rubbing shoulders with African Royalty and Politicians who were all over 'the messiah' like a rash.

You haven't confirmed yet whether you and Clement were actually in the "posh" seats or not!

But I thought BewareofRHODEntS was Dutch? That more or less qualifies you as a Dutchman, doesn't it?
