Good Afternoon

Recommended Posts

I have decided to join your merry clan to share with you the divine wisom that I gathered, not just SSML related but through all aspects of life.

The first lesson I picked up from a very good friend of mine who is a regular poster on this forum, a sometimes troubled person but who has now found love and happiness.

He realised the folly and stupidity of his words and actions and how they were causing him much strain and pressure, this in turn was hindering his personal life, especially in the love and companionship area.

This all changed a few weeks ago when after careful consideration and some recommendations from a friend that he hadn't scared off, he found literature. The two books that really changed things round for him were;

Sophie's Bakery For The Broken Hearted - Lolly Winston

"36-year-old Sophie Stanton has lost her young husband to cancer. In an age where women are expected to be high-achievers, Sophie desperately wants to be a good widow - a graceful, composed Jackie Kennedy kind of widow. Alas, Sophie is more of a Jack Daniels kind. Guzzling cartons of ice-cream for breakfast, breaking down in the frozen food aisle of her local supermarket, showing up to work in her bathrobe and bunny slippers - soon she's not only lost her husband, but her job and her waistline. With nowhere to go but up, Sophie leaves California for Oregon and after several false starts opens her own fabulous bakery. Juggling the success of the bakery, her friends and her new life, Sophie proves that with enough humour and chutzpah it is possible to have life after loss. And falling in love again is all she needs..."

The Map of Love - Ahdaf Soueif

"With its multiple narratives and ever-shifting perspectives, The Map of Love would seem to cast some doubt on even the most confident historian's version of events. Yet this subtle and reflective tale of love does suggest that the relations between individuals can (sometimes) make a difference. "I am in an English autumn in 1897," Amal confesses at one point, "and Anna's troubled heart lies open before me." Here, perhaps, is a hint about how we should read Soueif's staggering novel, using words as a means to travel through time, space, and identity"

Maybe these titles can help some of you as much as they did my good friend who even missed his beloved team this weekend to spend time with his new found love.

...

I can honestly say I have not read the above two titles, I have NOT found a NEW love, as I have been with Girlfriend for FOUR years ( I know she deserves a medal smile )

I guess its the part whre he said that 'he missed his beloved team to spend some time with his new love' that people thoght it could be ME.

Anyway.....just thought I would clear that up
