Fun with Numbers on a boring Monday morning..

Recommended Posts

Just been looking at the remaining games for the top 6.

Chelmo seem to have it easiest with only 5 against current top half teams; three of which are at home including their only two matches left against top 6 oppo.

Us & Bromley have 6 against top half teams, although our six are toughies with 5 away fixtures including 4 of the top 6.

AFC & H&R each have 7 against top half teams; the majority at home.

And Margate have 8 games left against top half opposition, but six of those are at home & only 3 left against a top 6 team.

I then tried to extrapolate the results & points from those fixtures into a final league table using the Duckworth-Lewis-Higgs-Bosun-Mason-Dixie method, and ended up with a migrane.

So I rang Mystic Meg who said "you lot 'ave got it tough me ol' china!"

I think she may be right, for once.

Have faith Rick - in the immortal words of Billy Ocean - "When the going gets tough, the tough get going" (or should that be KEEP going?)

Oh, I've got faith BC. Like Brightside Bloke says, this is a good set-up we're reaping the benefits of; and I'm sure we'll hit peak performance when we need it against the better oppo.

But it's still interesting to draw the comparisons. My guess is that many of your lot are still quitely confident with the games you have left (and that's an improvement on the not so quite type of confidence wink ). How longs McKinney out for?

Not so sure about the "quietly confident" bit Rick - think most of the "realists" in our ranks are awaiting the outcome of the next couple of games before ANY degree of confidence sets in. Your lads are certainly producing the goods now though, but it only takes one unfortunate slip up to get the heads dropping (in our case, the incidents in the Bromley match that may/may not have cost us points).

Anyway, if Ricay can come away from those tough away games with a handsome haul of points, then you must be in with a shout for the title. "Chelmo" may have to settle for the play-offs (if we're good enough), and the last thing most of us Clarets fans want is to meet your lads at that point in time.

McKinney could be out for a few weeks - broken finger(s) I believe.

Oi BC! Stop playing "mind games" grin I'm not even considering the "T" word. One game at a time. And your remaining fixtures are definately favourable.

Form go's out of the window in the play-offs. It's knock-out football in which anything's possible. If you add to that the unpredictability of a local derby it realy could go anywhere. So I can understand your comment about a possible meeting then.
