In case you wondered if the BILLD had changed.

There's a letter in this weeks Express, from one Michael Knight which goes as follows:-

"I disagree with Mr Sliski's assumption that more sporting facilities, under present circumstances, should be high on Slough Council's priority list, least of all a stadium for Slough Town FC (letters, January 26).

.........

Glancing, for once, at the sports pages, I notice that Slough Town FC (Rebels)are firmly bottom of something called the Ryman Premier league, having won 3 games out of 21. Does the council have to buy a new squad as well?

If we had money to spare, a stadium for Slough Ladies Hockey team seems much more appropriate based on achievement.

......"

While not at the moment a councillor, he did stand for election in 2004, and had he been elected would have formed part of the BILLD group.

I encourage anyone else who thinks that his letter is nonsense to write into the Express letters section---just be careful not to criticise the Express itself if you want to see your letter published.

The Observer is also worth a read. On page 86, Council Leader Richard Stokes says that it wouldn't take much to bring the ground (Wexham Park) up to standard so that STFC could return there.(I did check the paper, and no it wasn't the April 1st Edition).

well it is actually nice to see people from the various parties communicating with the public on this issue for once!! the labour person seems very keen but that could just be election tactics....and stokes actually seems vaguely interested apparently.

I'd be very disappointed if Labour were not keen on the idea considering that Rob Anderson comes to watch the games.

Unfortunately people like Michael Knight, no matter how much you explain the situation wont change their mind. If you are reading this Mr.Knight, which I very much doubt you are, the main fact we are "bottom of something called the Ryman Premier League" is because we don't have a ground to help fund ourselves to progress to a higher level. You prat.

thanks all for your support...

quite clear mr knight ..has not done his home work , he stated no acheivments by STFC ...120 years of exsistance..and a full history available...maybe we played in a stadium somewhere in north west london..something called wembley ..in 1973 ..and the attendance for that day was over a small figure of and odd 46,000 spectaors...give or take one or maybe 2 ...

Hmmmm,

Glad he took the time to write a thorough and inquisitive letter to our local press, making sure he thoroughly investigated our current situation and the effect a successful football team can have on a community and town by taking a ‘glance’ at the sports pages.

Also to have a successful side he talks about you need a home and a future to generate finances in order to attract better players. Which is why we want need a new stadium as we currently have none of these to get us out of this 'thing' called the Ryman Premier League.

Simple Maths:

(1) Home + Future + Finance = Success

(2)No Home + No Future + No Finance = 'Something called the Ryman Prem'

Top bloke
