Another midfielder? We'll never keep them all happy! Mind you, the piece on the "Clock is Ticking" thread, sugggests he would be more of a right side wing back - an area many of us felt we struggled with against Stevenage.

Joe is a good little footballer who has had his confidence knocked for six. Martin Allen did not rate him - he spent most of his year signed with them after he left the academy having to train with the U189's team and being loaned out to anyone who would have him - most of whom wanted to play him out of position.

 

When he was played, as Digger has said, he tended to be played out of position - what Digger doesn't know is that when he struggled there he got the full force of Martin Allens not inconsiderable unpleasant personality.

 

Even the signing for Gravesend was fraught. He was told he was leaving and given no help finding a team to go to. Through other contacts he arranged a trial himself at Gravesend mid January. He went and then got a phone call from MK asking him to go and sit on the bench in a reserve match just when he should have been playing for Gravesend - I am very reliably informed he told them what they could do with the reserve place with diagrams.

 

Anyway give him time and he may well do OK for you. He is a neat little footballer with some skill and if he gets his confidence back that should come through. I really hope he does make it with you.

Although alot of your info is correct, the info you have received about Joe Howe telling Allen where to go, with diagrams, when asked to play for the reserves is incorrect.
