Charlie Macdonald

Recommended Posts

He is a very good player even when he isn't banging them in.

Excellent first touch, clinical finisher, not electric pace but quick enough, he is a bit of a short [****!!****] so don't expect too many headers and unusually for a guy who gets as many goals as Charlie does he isn't selfish.

Hope your rumour is wrong as obviously we would like to keep him but he certainly deserves a chance at a higher level.

His overall game is rubbish and his stats are a lie. Crap, you wouldn't want him if the rumour was true... wink

In truth, his overall game is probably better than any other 20+ goal-a-seaon striker. Most of them are out-and-out goalscorers, which is fine as that's what they're there to do, but Charlie holds it up well, he's unselfish and creates a lot for other players, you'll often see him starting moves from the halfway line not just hanging round the box... oh, and he doesn't miss penalties.

Can you not just sign Steve Morison instead?

He drifted a bit for a few clubs after leaving Charlton, never really settling down and went part-time with Crawley, had a few injuries and got a reputation as a bit of a fairweather-pitch kinda player.

When we offered him full-time football again, he jumped at it and it's clearly paid off given his form over the last two seasons.

A pre-contract is where a player basically signs for another club when they're out of contract at the end of the season, seeing out their remaining contract their present club and then moving to their new club in May for nothing (as they're then out of contract).

It's just happened with York's Clayton Donaldson signing one for Hibs.

Thanks Stu, looks as though York werent entirely happy about it and were looking for some sort of compensation from the FA for bringing him on but werent likely to get it as he is going to a Scottish club. Anyway lets hope Alan's right. I know the O's are desperate for a striker but they need one now not next season.
