Home to Walton & Hersham - Saturday

Another big game beckons. A chance, in my opinion, not only to gain 3 pts but to improve on our goal difference (counts as an extra point come the season's end, as Ryan always likes to point out!).

Agree with previous thread re. the team - same team as saturday with the exception of Burbidge out and Allen in. No point 'resting' players - they have had seven days since the last league game and seven until the next so I feel there isn't really an argument there. I feel the likes of Hodges, Holland and Hill could have a major part to play when the games start coming thick and fast in a few weeks time.

Here's hoping for another +500 crowd (at least) saturday to keep the momentum going. Remember: we remain the only team unbeaten at home in the league conceding only 4 goals in process - lets BELIEVE in ourselves and keep up the good form.

I think we need to be careful not to get complacent here, you only have to look at Heybridge to see what happens if we were to turn up thinking we only had to turn up to get the points!!! IF we produce the commitment and work-rate we have done over the past couple of months then we'll be OK, if we don't then we'll get caught out. Hopefully another decent crowd (I'll be there so that's one more than last week ;)) and remember the crowd do play a part in the performances laugh

Only change the team if any of the players are carrying knocks in my opinion.

I wasn't advocating being complacent. Rather merely suggesting that this team has the ability to achieve things so why not believe in ourselves rather than simply think the worst. Our home record speaks for itself, we should fear no-one.

It's at this point in the season where support really counts. Instead of going into saturday's game thinking 'well lets hope we don't get beat', lets get right behind the lads from the word go and believe that we can 'do an Ashford'.

I know you're right. I'd just rather think it, but not say it out loud! Guess I'm just a bit supersticious.

Having said that, W&H have thrown the occasional spanner in the works for several teams this season including both of the other teams with a CM Postcode!

Admitedly, it's only at home that they spring these suprises, and with our home form you can understand why they're 6/1!

Its a game we should win, and the sort of game that we have to be winning to have any chance of promotion. I agree with the positivity: we are a much better side than Walton, and we have a superb home record, BUT there are no certainties in football. I agree with Rik, think positive, just dont say it. We'd all look a bit silly if we starting bragging about 3 points before theyd happened, and then we lost.

Having said that, i think wer'e gonna spank 5 past them grin

Pretty shambolic, it has to be said. However, stats mean nothing when its 11 v 11

Well that's done it...We'll be the whipping boys tomorrow wink

I take it Great Expectations is off the book list then?

Well Ryan, it's been on the list for some seasons....

I,m more worried about the Ref & Lino,s doing us more than teams. Teams we can handle but lino,s well just look at last week.

One would assume our lads are full of confidence presently, and that is the mark of an in form side. Keep playing those boxes and keep wearing down the opposition has been the key (imo) to our current position. So lads, bit similar to the scenario of keeping the same team (eg) if it aint broke dont fix it....The same applies to our lads on the field of play...Keep the style of play the same (cos at the mo it aint broke) smile

Come On Uuuuuuuuuuu Bluuuuuuessssssss

What larks young Pip! Chelmsford library is clean out of "Pride & Predjudice" smile

Interesting stats about W&H's away form. From a post on theor forum yesterday:

Quote:

In our last 8 games we have scored 2 and conceeded 24.

Our most recent goals have come from a free kick and 2 from Will Jenkins.

Our current first team squad has scored 7 goals this season (Jenkins 3, Summers 2, Cartwright and Kargbo 1).

Our replacement for Nick has conceeded 23 goals in 7 games, with 1 clean sheet.

Its a stunningly bad record, you have to admire the commitment of any Walton fans that turn up tomorrow. But, records are there to be broken, bad runs are there to end. It would be a surprise if we dont win, but it wouldnt be the strangest thing to happen in football thats for sure.
