Fisher let six go

In reaction to the recent slump in form, Fisher manager Sami Muduroglu showed off his ruthless streak in dramatic fashion today by releasing a further six players from the first team squad.

Together with the recent departures of Paul Lorraine, Anton Robinson, Narada Bernard and crowd favourite Steve Watts to AFC Wimbledon, Grays Athletic, Weymouth and Bromley respectively, Muduroglu has terminated the contracts of the following: Matt Hocking, Omari Coleman, Ahmed Deen, Joel Kitamirike, Justyn Roberts and Tim Clancy.

This tough stance has left the Fisher squad effectively in tatters with only first teamers Paul Nicholls, The Piper Bros., Leroy Griffiths, Hamid Barr, Steve Clarke, Joe Healy, Nick Davis, Gavin Heeroo, Charley Hearn and Anthony Riviere remaining at the club.

Midfielder Damien Scannell is available to play at Cambridge City on Saturday but will go out on loan to Millwall from Monday 5th February for the remainder of the season subject to a permanent move.

It also transpires that although three centre backs have been included in the cull, Muduroglu was hit by the news this morning that centre back Nick Davis is set to miss out for the remainder of the season with an ankle injury. However the Fisher manager was quick to appease fans with the following statement...

Muduroglu said: 'Our recent performances have been lacklustre to say the least. I was particularly upset by our recent performance at Eastbourne Borough (a 3-1 defeat). We're meant to be a full-time team but there's no getting away from it, we've badly underperformed this season. We're not going anywhere, the players released are all excellent footballers in their own right and should really be playing league football but in the Conference South we haven't done the business'.

However the gaffer was quick to add: 'I've effectively halved the player budget overnight. That means there are some funds available for me to go out and recruit some replacements, I'll be looking for players who are prepared to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in - a quality we're been distinctly lacking throughout the campaign.'

On Damien Scannell's imminent departure, he continued; 'Damo has been a fantastic player for this club, his still only 21 and we didn't want to stand in his way. Millwall is a good move for him, they're very close to us in location. Damo deserves his chance and a crack at league football, I hope he goes out there and fulfils his great potential'.

If they are being got rid of for not putting themselves about in their league. Do we really think they are going to to put themselves out in our league, so do we need a bunch on non-tryers here! Just a thought!
