I agree by ground sharing that the club lost money and goodwill, but the club didn't aim to ground share for a long period, didn't the developers or investors go bust? and that led to the club not having a home

Banks lend money on the basis of future income all the time. It's what there in business to do!

With the amount of grants there are available through the football foundation etc,the club would have only needed to raise around half the cost in this way. The problem was they did not have a realistic plan. With a realistic development plan they would have been in a very good position.

You cannot call having a football team a USP, as they are a dime a dozen, from local teams up to premiership ones, plus the competition from televised media. Then you have to mention the other competition for bums on seats, i.e. other leisure pusuits.

We tend to value our team highly because we support it, but you have to take into account the fact that unless we can persuade a great many more people to support it too you are on a hiding to nothing, or you need other income streams as return for investors to bring them on board.

No bank is going to accept as a guarantee of the not insignificant loans required to build even a basic stadium a vague promise of future bounty. Business does not run like that.

Investors with the required amount of funds to invest are actually fairly risk-averse, and need convincing that there will be a return on their investment that is rather more concrete than if we build a big shiny stadium we will fill it.

If i was starting with a fresh bit of paper,i would be looking to build a terrace at Tivoli end-(with facility to cover it at a later date).

Build dressing room facilities alongside this stand for MFC , but also for the 5-a-side pitches which i would be endeavouring to proceed with.

Then 12 months later-spend a year planning it and pre-selling the facilities- a new main stand with 1500 seats along the side of the dug-outs.

This would be a costly facility of circa £2M (with fit out)but would incoporate a gym, dance facility and medium scale restaurant/function facility ,'conference' room and office space.

You then produce a business plan depicting revenue generation from the gym, dance facility, function room for weddings etc .and the conference facility-by which i mean renting out a room for 20/30 people to small companies for their business meetings.

Nothing too grandiose-all could be managed by one general manager;but with various facilities complementing each other or substituting each other.

You could also endeavour to rent out any spare office space, but keep it as a shell within the main frame until you had a tenant.

Forget all about driving schools/hotels and the such like.

People seem to think no news is bad news. It's not, it's just no news.

I can think of reasons why the club might not be putting out information.

For a start there might be nothing new to say. Also, if matters are at a sensitive stage it wouldn't really be in MFC's interest to have the whole thing being debated on the message board.

I can't see any reason why we cannot have a chat about in on here, after all, it is very dear to all our hearts.

As long as we refrain from speculative mud-slinging at anyone involved that is, after all we do not know what is or is not in in development, or to what extent various people are involved.

I would have thought it would be a good thing for everyone to know we all remain very interested.

£2m , what Man UTD make at each game , could ask them , its all about Money , if you`ve got it the worlds your oyster , if you ain`t this will be a topic for future reading , as long as the blues can still play footy at the end of the day i don`t mind waiting even though i`ve been waiting along time.

I should have addd in my post, that have not forgot that Council owns the lease-so you work with them.

Allow Margate Leisure or whoever the council run dept is, take some of the profits, but also get council to put up some of the funding.

There is always a way to do things if the mindset and determination(and time-remember our executives are part time) is there.

There is always a way

Someone said to ask the Chairman! I can tell you this,I have been in touch with the Chairman on several occasions & he assures me everything is still going as planned or should I say talks are still ongoing. Now I am a bit bemused as to why they are still ongoing or why there are continuous delays. Now I am not in the know on these things so I/we have to assume that those experienced people on the board,as mentioned by Andy know more about this than I or others do.Therefore we have to TRUST them on this!

Its hard but thats the way it has to be!

What I was told was iminent were the five-a-side-pitches. They were meant to have "started soon". That was in November if I remember correctly or thereabouts. I spoke to Colin Page just a couple of weeks ago & he said it again "they will be started soon". Now if we could see THOSE pitches begin to take shape then I know I would be feeling much better about things. I'm sure others would too. CP didn't seem to have any idea what was happening with the ground though.I find this astounding!.

Anyway Malcolm feels he has it all in hand so I trust him on this.It would look at least like something was beginning to happen anyway if the pitches were begun as we were told they would be.Why the delay on something that was mentioned as "starting soon" back in November?

Chris mentions that maybe there is nothing to say. Well we have been here before. If theres nothing to say about it, then SAY IT!. Tell us its still going to plan but nothing as of this minute has been decided. At least we will know SOMETHING then & it will get us all of their backs & allow them to continue with the dialogue.

I must admit I too am very concerned about this now but I still believe in some small way that it WILL come about.By no means as much as I did before but still theres a little inside of me that says it WILL come about.

Another concern I have is about finances. How are the club paying the wages. No home games lately & even if there were there still isn't the magic figure coming through the gate to even cover costs It must be obvious that someone somewhere is helping out with this but & here comes the but,how much longer is this person or persons going to keep putting their hands into their pockets? There are a lot of questions besides just knowing about the ground that we could do with an answer to.It cant hurt anyone to update the fans on a more regular basis than is at the moment.

I really don't think its an awful lot to ask for.

Finally for any fans of other clubs looking in, this is my message to them..Don't assume that just because this subject has come up & is being talked about that the final end result WONT be forthcoming. It would be easy for those people to take more out of this than is the case. We are merely discussing it & putting our thoughts to the subject.

Hopefully the club WILL update us again VERY VERY soon. Then we will all know how things stand.OR better still lets see those 5-a-side pitches begin to take shape. That would be a start at least! No need to say ANYTHING then!

Cookie you are right to state what you did.

General updates would only be a positive situation if only to say matters are still with the council especially as Thanet Council have been shown by the Council Ombudsman to take twice as long as all other councils in coming to a decision.

Maybe something to do with how much expenses the bastards can claim.......come on boys sue me for that comment!!!!
