An excellent evening tonight, with a record 17 teams taking part and raising a total of £347 for Supporters' Club funds. The winners were Knocky's Love Children, comprising captain Helen Christmas, Jon Farmer, Phil Barry, Roland James, David Ranger and Paul Scott with the magnificent total of 97 pts. 2nd on the night on a tie break were The Floodlit Nightmares, led by Ian Ridley on 94 pts from, in 3rd place, Sarah led by Davy McLean also on 94 pts.

Well done to all those who attended the quiz and also to all those concerned, who helped with the organisation and running of tonight's event.

When you're out among friends.........

...the team what I was with was somewhat hampered as we were just three - and I was one, I hear you cry - as two cried off at the last minute. Anyway, we were awful, and it was perfectly obvious to the team marking our answers that we were in serious trouble, about to set a record for the lowest ever team score in the whole history of the World, ever. We get to round 7 [of 8] - ten audio questions with intros to 21 Century 'hits', each to be named. The only one I recognised was "The day we caught the train" by Ocean Colour Scene, which was one more than my two colleagues, but I couldn't remmeber the whole title. So. "The Train", went down on the paper as the only Blessed answer out of ten... Nine blanks.... The 7th round out of 8.... The lowest score ever recorded..... When you're among friends.......

The person concerned only marked it wrong!!!

I know where the person lives.

And as for that bearded chap who looks like The Chairman of the Supporters Club. He was the Quizmaster. The very first question, or more particularly, the answer to the very first question set the scene:

Q. "What was found at the bottom of some pool or something at Blackpool's Leisure Beach this month that was lost 76 years ago?"

A. 'Marlene Dietrich's pearl ear-ring'.

NOT a ring; NOT an ear-ring; NOT a pearl ear-ring [which was our answer, by the way]; NOT Dietrich's pearl ear-ring; BUT Marlene Dietrich's pearl ear-ring.

It's a tough schoool. I think that Ian Rogers might be related to the person that scored us 0/10 for Round 7. The eyes of the two of 'em are quite close together.

Seriously though, well done to Ian and everybody concerned. apart from you/I know who.

Friends.

;-)
