Rebels On The Move

Maybe. He seemed more prolific for me in terms of goals either scored or created when he was setting them up for Hodgey from the wing. When he played alongside him he did not seem to click quite so well. Either way he is not our player anymore so it does not really matter how they use him.

Ex team mate says:

He cut his hand whilst he was injured with his leg which he played on for a number of weeks before finding out that it was fractured, can't recall another time he was out. Plays best off a target man but can play either flank, would not call him a natural goal scorer but can turn a game in an instant. Very talented player and likable kid, Wish him the very best

Let's face it, we were never going to see McCleary again after he got injured. We all knew it. We couldn't afford to keep a talented, ambitious player who should go on to play League football one day, especially as he was the only contracted player at the club during the money troubles.

It's just a shame we couldn't be his main stepping stone to success, but what we did see of him was great - especially when he almost single-handedly turned a 0-2 deficit into a draw at AFC Wimbledon. Hopefully he can recover fully and realise that potential.
