Kentish Town to leave the SSML ??

Recommended Posts

An interesting SSML bullietin, (just up on the mito site) if says that unless Kentish Town find a suitable ground to share, they could drop out of the SSML!. Where would they go? this is sad as they have done well in their short recent history, and not ever having a home to call thier own is a major setback to getting any support and building the club up.

Other interesting items, Kings Langley voted team of the month, Edgware and Broxbourne groundsman put forward to groundsman of the year award, is this a league or national award, as I know there is a national award for club groundsman at our level.

What is the Carlsberg National league system cup? the SSML are in this, is this for step 7?

Sorry Horace I stand corrected, I KNOW its your site, and its very good. The mito is updated by htfcew isnt?

This National league system cup is good idea, all step 7 leagues have a rep side for the league and then go foward to try and make the UEFA national system league which is Europe wide. I never even knew such a comp exsisted.

You know the carlsberg sunday cup thats not the same as the pub cup is it? is that still going the Pub cup>=?

I believe its a national award. I haven't been to the WLG since Wealdstone moved out but have heard a number of favourable reports about the pitch there. Went to Broxbourne last season on a scouting trip - impressed with their pitch and set up.

Although it pains me to say anything positive about Edgware, the pitch is a credit to their groundsman. He gave me a few tips when we were there last, including how to explain to the mrs why you weren't out earning money when you were spending all your time at the ground!

I note some interesting "difficulties" being caused by Kentish Town FC. Clubs having to meet the costs of reversing fixtures because there's no alternative? To put it another way, the other Div 1 clubs are being asked to dip into their pockets to keep a nomadic team alive. I know what I would say if I was a SSML Div 1 club!

No written agreement with Hendon? Obviously, having reneged on the written agreement with Potters Bar Town last season, the club thought they would do without one this time around so they could stitch Hendon up (as they tried to do to us) if they felt they needed to. Seems to be biting them on the bum now they've been slung out. Is it a League requirement to have a written groundshare agreement in place? I suspect it is but I don't have an SSML handbook to check. If so, a heavy points reduction and huge fine must surely be the order of the day.

Maybe the best option would be to go back to King Georges and back into SSML Div 2 (if the SSML will still have them). After all, they hardly finished in a promotion position in the first place. It was only because their agreement to groundshare at Haringey coincided with the decision to make Div 1 all floodlit that they were promoted from something like 11th or 12th place to ensure that there were sufficient clubs to make up the numbers in Div 1.

Not sure why Gavin feels they have "done well" in their short history. They haven't won, or come close to winning, anything and have had one promotion by default. They made a good start to this season but nobody with a serious football brain expected them to last the pace once winter struck.

Lets hope you do, BB cant win the league, bar something very strange happening, so if you take points of Hertford you are doing us a favor.

The official line that I (as Hendon webmaster) was given was that we had agreed with Kentish Town that we would help them out as and when we could. In fact, I was asked to post the following on our messageboard back in September "...it has been confirmed that we are helping out Kentish Town in hosting games for them as and when we can, but this is not expected to be on a regular basis."

We've made no mention at all on our website about KTFC playing home games at Claremont Road - and as for the friendly that Rhodes bigged up on here - we forgot to make any mention of it, we tend not to advertise training matches smile

I said Kentish Town have done well because they have as the nomads they are, and without any real support. Rhodes does a good job for them and even though he goes OTT the match programme and website are very good for a club of a higher standard let alone one at step 6 with no ground and very little support.

Stop worrying about Hertford, Gavin! You have the league stitched up, don't you?

That's highly classified information, did you know that there is a 'Royal Secret' caveat which is higher than 'Top Secret'.

Gavin - Thanks for your kind support, it's much appreciated, I think all this recent nonsense about us since the SSML Management Committee Minutes of 11 January were disappointingly displayed on here by Horace is exactly that and the one who laughs the last laughs the longest.
