The right flank - Who would you have ?

ALI CHAABAN (Staines)

I feel our let down so far this season has been the right forward position. We haven't really got a grip of that position yet despite getting through half our games. I believe that even at this stage & espcially at this stage in the season we could improve in that area & improve our chances of success even more. We are doing fine down the left but invariably that right side lets us down. Who would you like to see,if anyone come here to strengthen that weakness. I.M.O.we should try & get Ali Chaaban from Staines who is knocking them in left right & centre & who is very tricky on the ball & has pace.Obviously I haven't seen him playing for real on too many occasions but what I have seen has been impressive. I have though been following his progress & his form for a while now.Believe me he is doing extremely well in a underachieving side.

If Trotty could lure him down here we would have the right flank covered & see a big improvement in that area. I believe that is the only real weakness we have at present. Get that sorted & we will improve even further. Ali for the Gate, thats what I say.

However we must also take into account the wages for such a player.I very much doubt the club can afford to get anyone in let alone a decent player however I wouldn't have thought, where he is plying his trade at Staines,it would take a lot of persuading to get him to come here at this time & bearing in mind our good position in the league. If you're looking in Trotty, please take a look at this guy. He is very talented, very very talented indeed.

Think about it! It could cement the championship in our favour once & for all. That would be my choice & at a decent & affordable price should the player be given the right persuasion. Incentives are here already for him to see & they don't need mentioning.

So no debate then,no nominations.Who knows what can be achieved!

If there are names in peoples minds lets hear them no matter what the barriers are,if indeed there are any! 7 days or no 7 days thats not a long time is it & who knows what could be achieved by gentle persuasion.A top of the table team playing good football. It might just sway a player at a reduced price in return for a championship winners medal on his CV.

It most certainly cant hurt to ASK! Debate or no debate I got my mention in anyway.

Interesting suggestion Cookie. Can't say he particularly stood out when we played them, but then I wasn't really looking out for him. Personally, I think Proths on the right-hand side is good enough. Jimmy on the left, Jay and Macca in the middle, and Proths on the right...sounds awesome to me!

imo , you can't afford to have two 'outright' wide men.

JJ plays wide on left-and in fairness tracks back a reasonable amount.

Not quite so special on the right, but don't think we vcan afford the luxury of an out and out wide player-games are won in midfield and you need your right flank to be a midfielder who plays a bit wider.

Thats why for me also, Jay or Proths are the men for that position

Jacko doesn't need pace on the left because he is so good with the ball at his feet, he always finds the space to get a good cross in. He has to be one of the best crossers of the ball i've ever seen in non-league football. Abbo has plenty of pace on the right but lacks the ball control, composure and experience of Jacko. He also seems to need plenty of motivation, but I have no doubt that as he matures he will become a very good right winger.

It's such a shame about Abbot. Remember how he started the season? He ripped Worthing apart down that right side and I thought we had found a real gem. Then he seemed to lose his confidence and his form dipped. As I said, real shame, because he certainly has the ability!

Trotty keeps faith in him, so obviously he sees more in him than some of us do.

I actually think he does a good job in his position, and would probably do better if his confidence was higher and he was given good support.

He is still young, and can develop into a key player for us. He certainly has the skill, just needs the finish.

And he has that at times too, if you recall his goal at Tonbridge.
