Billericay 1- 0 Horsham

Recommended Posts

Well, 1-0 flatters Horsham. How many chances did we have that we just couldn't put away? Good alround performance I thought. The new man certainly made his mark and made our goal. Shame about the red. Not really that sort of game. Stupid first yellow though. Some "interesting" results elsewhere as well. I have a "warm feeling" deep inside, and it's not just the JD wink

I agree Rick...not a pretty game but they all count. Well done to the lads. Another hard fought three points. And another clean sheet, although Ronnie must be happy with the defence today. They were awsome and left him with very little to do!!!

Title BC...title? We're just pleased to be playing football and having a laugh with our family and friends...

The title will go to the team that holds the No. 1 spot after the final game...

What was you saying about The Clarets before Xmas? Title winners? Ryman League Champions? Or were they just jokes? Never mind BC, you're amougnst friends here...we certainly didn't laugh when the Borehamwood result came through... wink

To be fair to Balmoral I think he was one of the few "realists" when it came to expectations of the new King era. But I didn't laugh either when I saw that result Gazza whistle

It was Adrian who got sent off BC. Second yellow. Shame 'coz he' was looking good having come on with half hour left. Made our goal but a bit too keen to please I suspect. Got applauded as he went off and seems to have earnt the respect of the "Blue Army". Looks like a valuable addition to the squad.

Another fantastic team effort. We have grafted our way to a well deserved three points. IMO Horsham are a pretty strong side but we restricted them to virtually nothing. Our togetherness and team play has been a major factor in our recent good form, let's hope we can keep it up. If Horsham's manager spent as much time on his own team as he did berating the officials then they would be 10 points clear by now. Get a life mate!!

Only one team deserved to win and that was us. Well done lads and let's look forward to next week. I wonder if floodlights will get a mention in the team talk.

Worster

Macca Heffer Blewitt Kerrigan

Whelpdale Game Hunter Dormer

Burbridge (Allen) Flack (Hodges)

snu: Wayman, Swaine, Hill

Another hardworking performance similar to Tonbridge, the midfield in particular are closing down, harrying and showing some much energy a real pleasure to watch the effort they are putting in.

That is not to discount the rest of the team, excellent effort all round.

Credit to Matt and Jason as well who really seem to have the team playing just as they (and us as supporters) would want.

Seemed to me that Adrian's first booking was for bringing the ball back to where the free-kick should have been taken, the ref though had other ideas and decided it should be taken in a different place and so the card was given for time wasting.

Good win today and still unbeaten at home in the league.

Can't comment on the performance as I wasn't there (SHAME) but this is an important result for us... Still all to play for in the top half. If we keep grafting to the end of the season...keep picking up points...it will remain "interesting". Any of the top 7 can win it (with the obvious proviso concerning AFCW), and any of the top 11 or so can get in the play-offs...

Another great result, we havent lost since Leyton, which is a good strong run. We had most of the possession, plenty of chances and we should have won by more than 1-0, but who cares? 3 points is 3 points which im delighted with.

Adrian Allen created the goal with a lovely little take down and cross for Flack to head in. Was a shame that he got sent off: i thought the first yellow was a bit harsh, although its always much more sensible just to leave the ball alone when the other team has a free kick. Didnt see the second yellow offense as i was wandering round, but good to see him applauded off the pitch as he looks a useful player, and its always good to back the players and give them confidence.

Another great all round performance, cant really single out any individual player, but the defense were strong, kept it very tight, and Ronnie had almost nothing to do, which is an excellent sign. As jl said, we were worthy winners today.

2 teams above us dropped points again today, but the most important thing is we keep playing well, keep getting the results, and try and make sure of a play off place.

Also good to see the townfolk taking a little more interest in us than early season. Crowds for 'standard' league fixtures (absolutely no offense to Horsham intended there), seem to be settling between 500 and 600 which is solid.

All in all, another 3 points, and im delighted. Well done boys. Roll on Saturday!

PS, new song didnt really take on did it Keith?! smile

Overall not a bad day at the office...

I mentioned the defence in resricting them to little or nothing but one must say our midfield has been working hard to date...

As we have all agreed, hard work from all the team.

here is a thought...some people are saying Horsham are a good side, others don' agree...Is it that we are starting make make these sides look ordinary?

We're not conceding goals... and to be honest we're not giving away many chances at the moment. As long as that remains true then it will take a very good team to beat us. Horsham are a decent side, and certainly still in with a chance of a play-off spot, but at the moment we're a better team...

We got there in the end, although when Dormer hit the post it had shades of "one of those days" about it. But, overall we were to good for them and the goal was just reward for another superb team effort. I did note on Allen's first booking that the ref (who I thought showed the yellow card to the Horsham player), didn't make any entry into his little black book at the time. Did he just make a mental note of it? Does a ref have to scribe in his book when the actual offence takes place?

Good comments Jim - I know i keep saying it but the team are starting to look more and more like a unit. Everyone knows their job and they are sticking to it. The defence play their boxes, with Leon sitting in front which seems to give Gamo the roving role imo. They are not doing silly things just keeping it simple, and lets face it football is and should be a simple game. Hats off to 'em again, as we wore down a robust Horsham (in more ways than one) and it has to be said Ronnie i do not think actually made a save of any sort. I guess that means he will not get paid this week then seeing as he was not in the game smile Another real TEAM performance and if it had ended 0-0 you know they would still have been given a huge applause! Well done lads, and to Matty and ALL staff. applause

Now Jim, yes it was not the best of starts, but then Annie took me ages to win it over...Stick with it, as it WILL be another toe tapping epic! wink...And here are the words just for those namely me! who messed up a bit on the second verse....

We are The Blue Army,
We are BILL-ER-RICAY,
We've been to Wemb(er)ly,
We've been to Canvey !

We will stand side by side,
We will..Not Divide,
We're the Blue Army,
And we are ALL BARMY !!!!

(Repeat as long as you wish)...

WHO ARE WE - BLUE ARMY, BLUE ARMY
