AFC could drop points?

Recommended Posts

This is causing a big fuss amongst some AFC fans who are saying that if they are deducted points and it messes up their promotion push they will look to be switched to the Southern Premier.

A lot of them are saying it's all a big conspiracy to keep them and their hoardes of fans down in the Ryman League by docking them points instead of getting possible promotion. Apparently some of them are also peeved that the league is full of rich Essex boys trying to buy their clubs the title, so a move to the Southern League may be more their cup of tea.

Didn't take them long to work that one out then!

I think it is quite funny. Let them go over to the Southern League enjoy all the extra travelling and playing teams packed full of cloggers.

They are in the mix for a play off place but can't really see them putting together a consistent enough run to claim the title.

And they absolutely hate it when opposition fans and players dare to celebrate a hard-fought 0-0 draw after their side had failed to break the inferior team down.

Maybe the Southern League's teams would be more willing to roll over?

Oh yes and there is an evil conspiracy stemming from the FA and by people wearing blazers who are dead set against Wimbledon and look to ruin them at every opportunity.

I think a number of users on their forum are ignorant - it must have been repeated a dozen times already by wiser users that they can't choose to apply to go to the Southern League, and equally the same rules would apply over there as in the Ryman.

Too many chips on thick shoulders if you ask me

Maidenhead are struggling in the Southern league. THe general view is that the teams generally have a route one approach and bigger "chopper" centre halves. I've attended a few games at Maidenhead this season and what I've seen is good footballing sides with mainly local players.

I think that any team goning into the Southern will have a suprise.

True, but Maidenhead suck. Albeit not quite as badly as we do at the moment. The Southern League would surprise the Dons and given that we are highly unlikely to be at the same level next season I don't really care what division they play in.

Salisbury did throw a lot of money at it though. In fairness to AFC they do not blow a huge amount of money on the playing budget (comparitively). I can understand why it frustrates them that certain clubs that have featured prominently in this league and have been rumoured to be paying hefty wages have done so whilst having only meagre support. At least Chelmsford manage to marry having decent support and having a big fat Essex pikey sugar daddy.

Of course, if they think they can get away with it, the ryman bosses will take as many points as they can off AFC Wimbledon to keep them in their league!

If slough get moved in to the southern league next season at the level we are at now the traveling isn't as bad as you'd think!

That's it, fail to mention the fact that we're annoyed that a player that was released from a club playing in the English league and the English FA Cup 6 months before joining us has meant us possibly losing 18 points because he didn't have International Clearance-which is only needed to check against outstanding fines/bans, something he didn't have.

But don't worry, you continue your "We hate AFC" because their massive fanbase is represented by 30 people on their guestbook attitude. In which case, lets hope you get relegated, the 5 or so posts deserve it.

There was a case with a player last season, Solomon Taiwo, who played at Windsor & Eton where he too had filed to tell 5 clubs, Maidenhead Ud, Weymouth, Chesham Utd, Dagenham & Redbridge and Windsor & Eton, that he had played in the USA.

The only team to be docked points were Weymouth as this was the first club that he signed for.

If he had been abroad and joined an English club and then AFCW then you will more than likely be safe, but he he came from a club outside of England and then to AFCW then you should rightly be docked points.

The issue here is that it doesn't matter if he has played in England previously or not, if he has been at any club outside of England and then returns, he needs clearance.

Don't take this as AFCW bashing as I do admire how they started with nothing and hae built themselves up, even if a few of their supporters feel that they have a god given right to be higher than they are, it is just that rules are there for a reason and teams should abide by them.

My point wasn't that he had played in England previously. My point was that his last club was in the English pyramid and in the English FA's flagship cup competition. That club just happened to play in Wales, but then that's down to the English FA allowing them into our league. Stupid rule that all you lot would be up in arms about had it happened to Slough.
