To counteract the spam received on some of the forums that includes full text of general rubbish and links would it be possible to implement post verification for Anonymous posters.

 

By this I mean the use and inclusion of techniques employed when signing up to email accounts etc, where a random set of letters is "hidden" in a image which obviously only a human can see and decipher. This has to be input into a box to confirm the post as Anonymous so that spam posting of full text and links can be stopped?

 

Its beginning to be a problem and a hassle to stop each time it appears on the forum.

Which forum(s) are you seeing this on?

 

Captcha should be enabled on any forum that allows non-members to post.

 

The only sure fire way is for the forum in question to go members only and not allow guests to post.

 

If you let me know which forum(s), I can check to make sure CAPTCHA is enabled.

This has happened again recently on the Slough Town forum.

 

Not as prevalent as before, but over the last couple of days its started to flare up again. I've had to delete a few posts.

captcha wasn't on - it is now.

 

You might like to make a post to this affect, so that genuine people know.

 

The alphanumeric characters are not case sensitive.
