The club has also been informed that the Ryman Football League is charging us with a breach of league rule 6.1 in fielding a player before having obtained an international transfer certificate.

it could be all 18 points won with darlington in the team we lose.

Is there any precedent for points deduction in the Ryman in these circumstances? Couldn't teams like Worthing & W&H, who have lost points to you but are in a relegation fight, argue that they wouldn't benefit from that, unlike those in the promotion hunt.

The league rules are pretty unequivocal Rick:

Rule 6.8 Playing an ineligible player states (as I'm sure you're aware:

Any club found to have played an ineligible player in a match shall have any points gained from that match deducted from it's record and have levied upon it a fine in accordance with the fines tariff.

The fines tariff sets a minimum recommended fine of £150 a game.

Rule 6.8 does allow for a reduction in the points reduction in the case of the player concerned being a sub (at the board's discretion).

The board can also order that the match be replayed, although I would suggest that AFCW are unlikely to be asked to fit another 11 games in!

Wonder how "ineligible" is defined.

The press release said they were being charged under rule 6.1...

I assume that refers to the bit that says:

"It is the responsibility of each club to ensure that any player signing a registration form with the club has, where necessary, the required international registration transfer certificate"
