Billericay 1 No good St.Albans 0

Recommended Posts

First game I have attended for ages.Liked the attitude and effort every player wearing the blue shirt of Ricay put in tonight.Could of won by more, thought we defended really well all night.Shame the St.Albans idiots behind the goal go back to grotty Hertfortshire pointless.Mom Richard Graham looked dangerous every time he was on the ball.

Superb. How good was Fay! Are you reading St. Albans, couldn't beat our 16 year old goalie. Kerrigan, Henty, Gilley, Mooro, Williams, M.Graham, Penn, R.Graham, Wallace, Ansell, fking first class. Lets make sure we follow it up with a result at the 'emilys'.

Who was that Hertfordshire twat on the pitch? Think he was the same one on the pitch when they equalised. Oooooppps! Aaaaaarghhhhh!!!!! "You thought you had scored, you were wrong, you were wrong"... and they really did think they had scored, ouch! that must've hurt!!!!!

Hertfordshire wnk wnk wnk, Hertfordshire wnk wnk wnk.....

If you'd seen how crap we've been for the last four months, you wouldn't think last night was such a great result. Personally, I was expecting to lose by a much bigger margin.

Still, it's always good to come to Billericay. Makes one appreciate what a fine place Hertfordshire is to live in.

"ouch! that must've hurt!!!!!" - No, what will really hurt you, Ryan.c (I think I once asked elsewhere what the C stood for), is when your local rivals from the island get promoted this year.

Me? I wrote off our promotion chances back in November.

Brilliant result, I really enjoyed this one.

I thought St Albans looked a decent side but could not get through our defences. I am sure their supporters are disappointed with their Teams performance as well as with the Ref.

My opinion for what it is worth:

Fay: Kicking was excellent, superb save. Was always going to have problems with corners because of his height.

Morro: Excellent again, I thought he shielded Fay well at set pieces, scored the goal and rarely let his man have a sniff at goal.

Gilley: Solid and clearly enjoyed the defensive battle.

Henty: Strong, always in the thick of it. Kept their nippy left wing out of the game. His kicking down the channels could improve.

Kerrigan: Completed the impregnable back line. Good running down the flanks, excellent cross for Jamie near the end.

Penn: Loved his attitude tonight, always encouraged and had to make up a lot of ground as we did play quite deep.

Willo: Battled well, lost the ball a couple of times but gave 100%. Had to cover a lot of ground.

R.Graham: Probably man of the match, tireless and always the creator. He is a joy to watch.

M.Graham: Like his brother he is a creator, he was always there when we needed him. Needs to get more crosses in but worked well in very tight spaces.

Ansell: They say defending starts at the front. Had scraps to launch any real attacks but his work rate was excellent.

Wallo: Battled away up front without losing his temper. Again little opportunity on goal but did his part in an excellent team performance.

Calder watch: no subs, but a difficult one to call tonight as the team stayed a team for 90 minutes.

Reacted to the crowd when there was criticism of not getting the crosses in from set pieces. But did have quite word with both Brothers about it. The team did the talking for him tonight.

Not tonight we didn't. Even allowing for the diabolical refereeing, we were abysmal and our midfield was non existent. We deserved exactly what we got.

A good result last night and I thought all of the team battled well.

A great goal by Chris Moore and we ran the first half (in my opinion).

The second half, well, they were always going to come at us but I thought we held on quite well, with a little slice of luck which went our way (makes a change).

On the issue of subs...Was Jamie injured last night 'cos he certainly didn't look fit. Although he played with some heart, I can't understand why Gary Calder doesn't use Fewings. He may not be the fastest player on the bench but with service from the midfield, can be quite useful.

Just been reading the programme...

A good article "On the day in history". Be nice if this becomes a regular feature.

I did note the comment in Gary's Corner about Fewings (especialy after my comment above). Will say, I don't really know what Paul could've done last Saturday as at the time he was being introduced, we were seriously back peddling and the midfield were not pushing up. Hey, just an observation on how I saw last saturdays game...

I agree with Gazza on Paul Fewings. My view is that whatever Paul Fewings does, Gary Clader will not be happy. He doesn't want him at New Lodge and he is playing games with Paul (as he did with Forsester and McDonald). If the fans don't agree with him, we, either, don't understand football or else he is abusive as he was last night when somebody shouted something. Can't repeat what he shouted.

It was good team effort last night but let's not kid ourselves WE DON'T HAVE CENTRAL MIDFIELD. Russell distribution is terrible and Wills is not playing well, he is loosing the ball to often. He played better over the last couple of games but the expectations are higher after his displays last year. We need some creativity in midfield - not been there since we had Dean Parratt, Andy Tomlinson and Brennan before he was moved to sweeper.

it was an excellent result for us last night..i thought we rode our luck a bit but it's about time we had some and st albans only really started coming into the game after they threw caution to the wind with 20 to go.

a good team effort. for me special mentions to mark fay, well done to him for his clean sheet, and also to gary ansell who in my opinion has worked his socks off in the 3 games he has played for us contrary to all the bx that has been written about him.

we have a small squad now and it makes sense to use all of the players where possible even if they are not your best mate. saturdays upfront selection dilemma may have been answered as i understand jamie has picked up a knock which means the returning douglas will partner ansell (fewings will be given the job of cutting up the oranges).

i think the protection the central midfield have given the back 4 is one of the reasons we have the tightest defence in the league. we look to the g.g. s for our creativity, you cant have it both ways.

we are unbeaten in January and i think a lot of credit should go to Gary Calder and the management team for getting the players so committed and focussed when this month could easily have been a disaster after the off-field probs. (see I can do it!!)

cmon the blues!!!!

Not sure i would've brought on Fewings last night, poss bring on Morris or Rantala for last 15 when Wallo had run out of legs.

V much disagree with "supporter" on our central midfield, think the current pairing is the best we've had under Calder (not saying it's perfect mind you) - with any of the 3 players you mention, and I would also include Carthy in this, we tended to get over-run in midfield. The last couple of games Willo has shown a definate improvement in form, and for me Penn is the "holding" player in front of the back 4 we've lacked. On the heavy, bumpy pitches we're playing on at the moment it's very difficult to play good passing football, but last night we passed the ball very well.
