Gavin, firstly bad luck although obviously I would support the Sussex County over Edgeware in such a situation. They don't have a website, but they do sometimes represent themselves on Nomad Online Forum, although the only thing we have heard there is the rest of the county congratulating them!

It's a great achievement for our league, we rarely reach these dizzy heights. I did say in a previous post that you would have your work cut out beating them. With a current Brighton and Hove Albion coach (Ian Chapman) as manager, one thing you can say is they are certainly going to be well organised. And with a man mountain in goal (current Sussex keeper aswell) it was always going to be tough. I'm surprised they undone you at your place however. Wish it had been next week, I could have come and watched the match!

When they did us 3-0 at their place earlier in the season we had 8 (yes eight) regulars out and we felt hard done by. The Hawks have a habit of making the opposition feel they should have got something out of the game, as they obviously did with you guys. Cold facts are they have been getting more out of games than their opponents thus far this season.

Anyway good luck in your season's pursuits, I'm sure the league is your number one priority and you will go on to bigger and better things.

Geoff.

Geomians, I agree, over the two games we could only score one goal in 210 mins of football, that sums it up. I think after scoring hatfulls every week, when faced with a watertight defence we did not know how to unlock them. Their keeper for me was MOM in both games, thoguh to be fair we could and should have tested him more in both games, as I think he is sligtly week on the floor, wheras in the air he is very good

I still dont know why our penalty taker who has scored nine from the spot so far, put the ball high to the keepers left, when IMO he should have placed it low, the ball sailed high and wide from teh kick, that was prob the cruical point of the tie.

Whitehak are the most orgainsied side at the back so far I have seen us play, though coming forward they dont score many goals, so I agree when they go a goal up thats them home and dry.

How far do you think they can reach?

How far? Well as you pointed out it is very favourable to have a home tie, and Quorn are certainly not the strongest team left in the competition. Having said that, any team that reach this stage have to be a very good side.

A Sussex County side have never won the Vase, and I don't see that changing this season. I remember EP playing Didcot Town the year they won it and they came to our place and turned us over 0-4. We were having a good season having reached the 3rd Qualifying of the FA Cup and felt quite confident. They were an exceptionally good side that went on to bigger and better things. Whitehawk aren't an exceptionally good side, great organisation gets them success. I fully expect us to beat them at home when they come to us.

Having said all that I believe they could reach the semi's. But the luck of the draw will have to go their way. Last eight however is a great possibility, and after that.... who knows.

Our management team said at the start of the Vase run, if you are gonig to get KO let it be to a team that can go on to the final and / or win it.

With all due respect, I dont see Whitehawk doing either, Leamington have to be the team that everyone needs to beat, then I would pick one of the Northern clubs or maybe Middenhall from the Eastern counties.

RE the game at Whitehawk on Saturday, did you hear that they had around 30 or so Brighton fans that got in for free at HT and were all pissed up and drinking alcohol on the terraces and being generaly abusive towards our supporters?

It could have turned nasty, but luckilly we had the sense to move away and not get involved.

Yeah I read your post earlier in the week. Arundel had a similar thing happen to them against VCD last season. Normally the Whitehawk crowds are pretty good, but I guess the occassion was well known around the area (as are the Whitehawk housing estates) and unfortunately these incidents blow up occassionally. Thankfully, nothing came of it.
