I strongly agree & I have have brought this up before about a commercial manager. I even spoke to Colin Page about this & he thinks & agrees that lack of sponsorship stems from not having one. Sorry Colin but you are on the board of directors...do something...say something for goodness sake. A part-time commercial manager would suffice & at least bring in more for the club than is being brought in at present.

As far as other info is concerned Re:the ground. Again I agree we are getting nothing from the club despite being told we would be,on a more regular basis & it DOES bring about speculation not knowing. It does make you wonder WHY! However as the team are doing well at the moment I don't feel its right to rock the boat too much at this time as we don't want any bad news affecting the players form right now. May I suggest to the club that we are updated very soon. I don't think its too much to ask.The club KNOW we want to KNOW so why no words from them?

Anyway I have said what I wanted to say on this & I shall leave it at that for now. But I will be back if nothing is forthcoming soon & maybe then this boat will start to rock some more! Be assured of that!

In a lot of these people's heads, KENT means within a stone's throw of MAIDSTONE, seems they never go much further afield.

Sorry but as one of the team that covers Non League football for Radio Kent, I'd like to take issue with the comment about there being no mention of the Gate's excellent win at East Thurrock on Tuesday. There was a Soccer Special on 774AM and courtesy of Ken Tomlinson the score from Essex was updated every 15 minutes during the game.

As regards to the Gate actually appearing on the main Sport Show on a Saturday afternoon, I myself have seen the gate SIX times this season and that is on top of others watching games and thus featuring them. And before you ask - yes, I am going to Hampton on Saturday to provide regular updates every 10-15 minutes and goal flashes as they ahppen usually within 60 seconds of the ball hitting the net.

We'll be first with the team news; first with any goals and first with Trotty's reaction after the game.

Please remember that the show can only usually cover 4 games each week, and after Gillingham and Gravesend that leaves just two slots to be divided between 11 other clubs and the Kent League. I know that Wellsie more than does his bit too, so please keep listening in the run in, and whilst yes I admit coverage particularly midweek could be better, coverage ona Saturday afternoon is better than the majority of Ryman Premier clubs can only dream of...

We do our best and hopefully what we do you enjoy listening too!

Dont forget if you cant get to Hampton, Saturday Sport is on air at 2:00 - and this week certain to please some people, Charlton and Gillingham are no where in sight!!!

But why does it have to be AFTER Gillingham & Gravesend Greenie. I know you will say that they are the two senior clubs & should be first in line for 90 minute coverage but I have to disagree & say that your station is called radio Kent. That means it should be shared around more KENT clubs. Just because the two principles are playing, especially the Gills(home & away) it should sometimes ignore them(now that would be a first wouldnt it) & place other KENT teams in the limelight instead of! Theres too much emphasis on Gillingham. They are a PART of Kent & not ENTIRELY Kent. Sometimes, just sometimes it wouldnt hurt, despite them being senior clubs,to put them in the background occasionally. There are plenty of KENT teams out there that deserve headline billing for other reasons than just being the "principle" team. Its about being fair! If you are called RADIO KENT then be fair to ALL clubs in the county rather than automatically continue with the Gills as first choice. Or is it that they PAY you for dong so in which case I can understand your reluctance to veer off the norm.

It has to be said that not everyone would like to hear about the Gills despite them being who they are.It gets boring to some week in week out to hear them getting first crack at things.Just a little sharing is all most are asking for & a bit of fair play all round.Maybe its THIS that upsets people more than just getting some little coverage. I know it is with me.

Whilst we all look at Gillinghams results with interest we also look at other clubs results & occasionally it would be nice to see some of the lesser clubs take priority over the Principle clubs(on paper).

This is only my view on things & thats why I personally am disgruntled with your radio show on Saturday afternoons.

I have no problems with the coverage its the continued coverage of ONE team that gets my goat.Time to be more fairer to ALL kent clubs I think.I hope you & your friends take note of kent peoples views on this.

I'm not talking JUST of Margate Rob & If you read my post you will have noticed that. How about you try & debate a subject without bringing the Ramsgate/Margate thing into it. Better still address a thread when its directed at your own forum.

As for your other scenario,no I am not complaining because as in Match of the day or Sky sports they don't always focus on the big two or three.Thats how it SHOULD be, fairness to all. In our case we are talking of RADIO KENT & therefore Radio Kent should be fair to ALL clubs in the county rather than focus on the principle club week in week out.

Used to always like to know how Gillingham got on being our ONLY League club (Charlton have sold their soul to London and are no longer part of Kent) However that changed when caught up in the violence the day the Fulham fan was killed now have little regard for the club.

However I agree that the higher up the pyramid the better the coverage BUT as Cookie said being a local radio station there should be fair coverage for the Kent clubs in the Rymans (Premier and Div 1 South) especially if they are doing well and the Kent League too.

It would also be good that when not having a reporter at our matches that updated scores are given out occasionally and that when they are they are correct. (how many times have we heard either Margate or Ramsgate are drawing 0 - 0 when in fact goals have been scored or conceded - the Folkestone Ramsgate match last week being a prime example.

I tune into Radio Kent for the news, travel and the sport. Carry on the way they are going I will switch on for the travel and news and that is all

It called re-inforcing the point.Besides I think you will find it wasn't that way at all if you read it properly but then again you cant read more than two lines at a time anyway, from ANYONE can you! Again a brave boy from behind a desk.A boy with a big mouth & no idea of how to understand a point when its being made.

Again all because I wouldn't wish you a happy birthday. You are pathetic & will never ever grow up will you!

How about you joining in on a debate sensibly rather than attack people personally. Its because you, like your counterpart I.S have a problem. Suggest you see someone about it quickly!

Enough said!

Frankie - the thing is that the Sports Producer has, over the past few years, managed to get a network of people who will be at every game and who wont mind getting a phone call every 15 minutes or so week in week out. The problem only seems to happen when one of those people dont attend a game or dont hear their phone go off for whatever reason.

But having travelled the length and breadth of the country covering and watching Kent clubs, I cannot help but think that the coverage we give on Saturday Sport is almost second to none. Indeed in some regions Non League clubs dont get a look in - indeed I wonder just how many "home" media will be in attendance on Saturday.

The thing is that must be remembered is that we have as I've said four games most weeks and for the two "spare" games each week we have ELEVEN different clubs (down to ryman One level and that doesnt include the Kent League!) who each think that they deserve equal billing. In an ideal world they would be right but this is far from an ideal world and so each week we have up to nine different clubs "complaining" about lack of coverage! We cannot please everyone all of the time Cookie and I would love to deabte the pros and cons next time I'm at Hartsdown over a pint or two because this "arguement" will run and run - we do our best and know that we cannot please everyone all of the time.

But rest assured, as the run in gathers momentum I can guarantee that the "odd" Gate game will be covered...

In the meantime lets all pull together and get Margate FC back where they belong - and that is in the Conference...

I can just not get over the fact that we have only seen 1 BBC Outside Local Radio Unit at Hartsdown this season. That was on 2nd September for the match against Chelmsford.

Yes you guessed right it was Radio Essex covering the match.

That sums up Radio Kent.

Actually I am grateful that Greenie has commented, as at least it shows someone is prepared to [read and] listen to a bit of criticism and comment accordingly.

Support of the Gills is to be expected and the Radio does provide good coverage. There is support for Charlton in the County and I can see why Radio Kent pander to this group, although in my opinion they warrant only limited coverage.

As for the likes of the Fleet, Bromley, ourselves, Dover, Folkestone, Tonbridge et al we should get an equal crack of the whip for specific coverage and at least be kept up to date with the scores/scorers. If they can cover additional games then the County should be properly geographically served. So both the Kentish men in the West and the Men of Kent in the East have better coverage than at present!

Abdullah -from the mystic East!

Interesting debate this one.

Greenies post implies there is a heirarchy and as league and conf. national clubs, G and G get priority.

I'm ok with that-our job is to get back up there in the conference national.

I'm wondering where that leaves Welling=Surely a Kent club-and 'third' in the heirarchy.

Arguably, they should get more coverage than the Ryman clubs, which would then leave room for just one 'lower league club' to be featured.

If we go to conf south next season will then G,G Welling and Margate only be covered.

If Welling go to conf. national, does that mean G,G and Welling will be featured and again just one other club featured.

Seems like RKent need to find a waty to cover more than 4 featured clubs .

In fairness, RK do give football more coverage during the run in'-but that could also be a problem for them if Margate,Ramsgate and Bromley all feature, and then there are Dover,Sittingbourne,Maidstone,Dartford in Div one all in playoff contention.

Greenie-nice problem to have but how do you think RK can sort that lot out.

Given I have a foot in both camps (to some extent) (Margate fans and RK - before anyone suggests anything else!) there are 2 things that I would say about RK's coverage that might be worth a re-think. One is one frequency given over to Charlton. Surel;y the Premiership get's enough coverage else / every where. The second is that I'm not sure current league ranking or attendances is the only "sports news" trigger. What about town populations? If the "really interested" already go to games, then who is the service addressing?

On the plus side, we do tend to forget that RK does present a Sports News Show and therfore needs to pay attention to the journalistic value of what it presents. That can be pretty subjective and therefore difficult to judge. At Margate, we also have a pretty good news service of our own (for the web-enabled fan). Our web-site is as up to date and current most any and our audio services are better than I've seen in Kent and beyond - particularly at our level. And I do know (because I get the calls) that RK do try to use their contact network extensively for score updates for the Saturday show.

Would I like to see more "news" coverage of Margate on RK? Yes, youbetcha! However, on any basis, there are a lot of Kent club's enjoying success right now: G&N, Welling, us, even Ramsgate and Tonbridge as promoted clubs), Dartford, Dover (yuk!) Darford, and the top few in the Kent League - particularly Whitstable. So that does make the call diffcult. Then there is the budget that RK has to fund the coverage anyway.

So no answers from me either, but a committment to continue to do what I can to develop our web-based servcies for Maragte fans and work with other agencioes where I can - including RK.

Cheers mate. I do get lots of nice feedback (so don't stop!) I'd just love to provide an even better service incluing from away games and content between games. I think I missed my vocation.
