I think that Fordy got the team selection right on Saturday. Similarly, I think he got the team selection and more importantly the formation wrong last night. And before anyone jumps on me..... No I dont think I could do better!

No I am not going to jump on you, but I wish that you had read Andy's manager's report before writing that. What was out there tonight, with the exception of Wilkerson, was all that was available.

Now if part of your available 15 are 4 forwards then obviously some of them are going to be playing out of position. I understand that Che started his career in midfield, so he is an obvious choice to play deeper.

Where I do disagree with Andy is moving Mark Bentley onto the left to accomodate Tostao. Mark is a far better and more complete player than Tostao, and he should be played in his rightful position, on the right of midfield, we looked far better once he switch and indeed we scored within minutes of the switch with a move that started on the right.

However, at the end of the we were not good enough as a team last night. Now we need to forget that and get on with the serious business of staying up.

I seriously think after mulling over these posts that perhaps everyone is blowing it out of proportion? I know that its an easy cup to progress in and we havent, but it is only the Kent Cup!! The league is a lot more important to keep the players and the fans together as a unit and is far more enjoyable than maidenhead and the delights of Ryman Football.

We played the only players available that were out of position and trying new things, I cant see where the problem is, let Tostao have a bad game, let Benno switch sides, let Che and Louie play central midfield! It really doesnt matter in the Kent Cup!! We all know who will play(ish) in the League and that Tosato should only get say 30mins at the end of the game.

On with the League, and up the Fleet

This is proving to be a very interesting thread!

At least our opinions appear to have some thought behind them, its most unusual, nobody seems to be getting the hump!

I take your point Dave and understand how stretched we are. However I was aware of that last night as well. What I was miserable about after the game, was the lack of cohesion in the side. Some of the players last night REALLY looked like they had met for the first time!

As for poor old Che, I wasn't really having a dig at him, but he could have done with a goal or two last night to boost his confidence, so I was a bit surprised he wasn't up front. At least his work rate was unquestionable.

As for it only being the Kent Cup? Well I seem to recall how seriously we took it over the past few years, indeed winning it was a bit of a stepping stone to the level we are at now, so I'm a bit miffed we were knocked out. However, you are right, the League is far more important, lets hope for better things over the next few weeks.

Absolutely Andy after all that's what the Margate fabs said when we beat and I seem to recall that we criticised them for that attitude.

If you enter a tournament you should go all out to win it.

I was there with Bateo and Brother. Thanx. people are getting this all out of proportion and everything here, its a game thats gone and is of greatly less importance than any other game this year. Blimey this thread is already too long. The lauge is a must and staying in it priority.

I was there, with other poor cold souls.

Whilst I agree with a fair bit that has been posted, I like many of you were a tad upset about the lack of committment.

I understand there were problems, with illness and injury, but once Chris Giles got injured, our defence was poor.

Thought Louie looked really up for it when he came on, but unfortuantely everyone else seemed to be at half pace at best.

Won't single out anyone in particular, but agree with the Andy Y comment about the chanting chaps.

I didn't realise Giles was injured, Jessica - I was just going to question Andy for bringing off our only first choice defender on the pitch!

I'm in general agreement with most people here about the performance - abysmal first half, much better in attack in the second (especially Evans' superb performance and goal ) but defensive weaknesses and lack of commitment showed. I too was greatly disappointed with Liam's showing tonight. We could have had a penalty when Evans was fouled but the ref gave a free kick outside the box, but generally we deserved to lose without doubt.

As for the debate concerning the importance of the KSC, it makes for a great season closer when you get through to the final, and people criticising it must have forgotten the 3-0, 4-0 and 5-0 wins we achieved in the last three years in lifting the cup. Oh well, back to the league!

P.S. Matt (GNFC), it's important to point out r.e. Ben White that there is a fine line between being composed and casual and being uncommitted, and I think Ben as been toeing this line too often since joining.

The Kent Senior Cup is VERY IMPORTANT as we are holders

and had won it three times in a row. Srely we should

have been trying to ar least equal the record of five

times winners in succesion. Who amongst you can name

the club that holds the record - remembering that

Arsenal, Charlton and Millwall were at one time within

the borders of Kent and played in the competition?

The cold was bad enough last night, but the

disappointing game was far worse. I agree that Mark

Bentley was wasted on the left as he is a much better

all round rightsided player than Tostao Kwashi.

The best part we played in the game was the goal scored

by Louie Evans set up by Kevin Budge. Louie is suited

playing behind two strikers (Kevin and Liam) as in the

second half against Yeovil. Far dos to Erith and

Belvedere as they seemed to want to win. The man of

the whole match for mewas Darren Gowler. Glad to see

him back playing football, Good luck in the next

round.

Unbeleivable that The Fleet will not be in KSC Final

this year.

Probably Northfleet United!

Not if you heard the mighty Kinnear on Radio Kent last night. He was still bleating on about how his players were on holiday before the final last year and were a bit sleepy or something.

Which entitles us to harp on about Collins being offside, etc etc etc for the next 12 months I suppose...

Thats it Daz, if somebody doesnt agree, give them stick! nice attitude!

Again, you misunderstood my comments. I just feel that we should have played with more commitment - to say that 'it is only the Kent Cup' DOES make you sound like that Margate lot last season. That is not giving you stick, merely making a comparison.
