Well played Town!

It was truly a wonder goal. 35 yards out, its definately the best Town goal I've ever seen. Well done Steve.

I wonder if any Towners dropped in at Ware on the way back to see how the exiles were getting on.

John, Campbell, Bastian Tickner, Stephens, Jones, Hunt, Hall, Crace, Hammatt, Negus, Velandia, Carroll, Nyman, Ofori, Gant.

As this was an early kick off you could spot all the other clubs playing staff with Ware, Sawbo, Waltham Abbey etc represented to name but a few.

At a Windy new (but unlit) Harlow Town FC it was a great pleasure to see what a Town Council working with the local football can achieve. A ground with no running track –brilliant – so much better.

There was a chanting battle between Town and Harlow fans. Harlow fans chanting “We beat the Urchins you ain’t.”

Harlow Town took the game to ETFC for the first 20 minutes with the sun in our eyes. A great strike from a Harlow player was met with an equally good save. Phew that was close! Defensively we were strong Matty Negus was tackling back well and the return of Kevin Stephens saw some excellent work at the back. Simon Tickner headed just wide of the post. Simon Tickner was on fire running forward with the ball and passing well. Paul Campbell had a shot just past the post. A Rikki Crace cut back across the goal was saved by James Hassell. Rudi Hall had a great chance which he squandered with what looked like a pass back to the keeper (misconnected).

At Half-time Steve Velandia on for Andy Jones. Paul Campbell did a lovely pull back across the goal for no-one to tap home past Hassell. At the other end Harlow Town had an open goal opportunity which they squandered. At this end Bryan Hammatt had a great call for a penalty turned down. Dave Hunt having a good game made a great run to no avail. Bryan Hammatt launched a shot which dipped as it skimmed over the bar. Town were beginning to dominate but that goal was elusive. Ricci Crace had the best chance of the game for town in a one on one with Hassell which he somehow managed to miss. Town fans began to fear it would not be our day as Sammy Winston came on as supersub. Paul Campbell off and Kojo Ofori on.

Steve Velandia then scored a goal from 30 to 35 yards (in the centre circle). F’me he is going for it, it is going in as well. Wow what a goal! If you missed it you missed the goal of the season – no question! Town fans went wild and Harlow Town fans and players heads dropped! Fluke goal? Our Columbian can do this and has done it a few times now.

After last week a much better performance, probably too much in the air still but hey we were winning ball not chasing shadows.

Oh and for the Urchins fans “We took all six points of Harlow – See if you can at least get 3!”

I dont think the locals were too happy with the result with one of them ranting about our boys standing up for themselves and scoring with our only shot on target, but what a shot it was!!!

Good solid performance, unbelievable goal from Valandia, I will let Andy tell you the story of the build up & celebration!

Dave Hunt man of the match for me, best game in a Town shirt so far, Andy Jones had good half, was he injured?

Am I the only one getting tired of Hammatts dramatics? the falling over, the whinging & it seems to be spreading to others, thought he had a solid game though.

How embarrasing was all that crap at the final whistle, I hope the ref reports the Harlow number 2 who threw at least 3 punches at Hammatt, then one of the Harlow bench decided to pick a row with Simon Tickner (silly man!)

I saw Jim from the Vicar of Dibley in action yesterday.

Velandia picks up the ball and looks set to launch an exocet missile in the direction of the Harlow goal.

Gazza screams, no, no, no, no, no, no! The ball screams into the net for Gazza to dance around like your dad at a young persons' disco! Didn't know which celebration was the best. Gazza's or the team's!
