We could be back in the FA Trophy

If it was a simple case that Fisher had not given permission for Lorraine to play, but AFCW played him anyway then (as long as he was not cup tied) that's surely is an issue between Fisher and AFCW. It would not cause them to be thrown out of the cup or am I missing something?

Possibly the rules state that the loaning club must file paperwork with the FA from the player's original club giving them permission to play him.

So while Fisher may have said it was fine, there might be no evidence of this at FA HQ.

Which is all guesswork on my part. Someone with half a clue will come along in a minute and tell your properly!

For a loanee to play in the FA Trophy you must have a letter from his club confirming that he may play in the Trophy.

When we borrowed a couple of players from (I think) Colchester last season we had a letter stating that they could play in any match however as it did not actually say FA Trophy, we couldn't play them.

However that may not be the problem at AFCW.

I don't know who the inelligible player was but I would assume that as usual in these sort of cases it was a genuine mistake and not any attempt by Wimbledon to gain an illegal advantage. Of course as we have seen before that is rarely taken into consideration by the FA.

Whatever Wimbledon may or may not have done one thing is for sure....we don't deserve to be in the next round.

We're in the dark at Wimbledon.

Original thought was that it was Paul Lorraine, on loan from Fisher and that maybe we hadn't filed their explicit permission to play him in the Trophy with the FA.

Then a reporter said they'd been told by the FA that it was to do with international clearance. That suggests Jermaine Darlington, whose last club was Cardiff (yes they're foreign to the FA). However he also played in the previous two rounds and in numerous league games, so we hope we didn't get his registration wrong.

If you hear anything we'd love to know. Sure we weren't trying to cheat but rules are rules, however silly they might be.

I can never understand why people sign their name at the bottom of their post.

Jermaine Darlington, Paul Lorraine whoever, I agree with Slarti we don't deserve it AFC Don's do. I feel like Forest Green Rovers now although we haven't actually done anything wrong where as Green Grass Rovers did. It could be as little as something like not putting a signature at the bottom of a page, the correct date or ticking a box.

What seems puzzling though is why did AFC Don's release anything so quickly. I was told about this Thursday morning, not through the usual avenues, and asked someone if it was true. They confirmed it was but was told to keep my mouth shut which I did. When I come on here this morning, much to my amazement, the Don's have released the news.

The worse case scenario for me would be we get a replay and drew sending us into a further replay to be played on February the 6th. I have already booked tickets for Brazil Portugal at the Emirates so would be gutted if I missed that.

As I said above it would be harsh if it were something as simple paperwork, if it had been filled in correctly would it have changed the result? Unlikely. It does seem the very least we can expect is a replay, hopefully Tuesday week, but it will probably be Saturday the 3rd. Given the FA's record on such matters I expect, although agree that we do not deserve, a replay.

Just be thankful you weren't playing Halifax, if we don't get at least a replay and £10,000 compensation for stressed caused then I'll sue and all that.

One final thing, never trust a Womble!

Cheers,

As I understand things, this came to the FAs attention when the were processing the many bookings that AFCW picked up on Saturday, and found that one of the players didn't appear to have international clearance.

What makes things very interesting is that the player also played in the matches against Eastleigh & Aldershot, so they may feel a little aggrieved as well.

If they are found guilty by the FA, I assume that the Isthmian League will then have a look at the league matches that he played in and deduct points accordingly.

I see that he is in the squad for tomorrow's match at Chelmsford, so it will be interesting to see if he plays.

It appears that AFCW have been charged by the FA with fielding an ineligible player.

Given the FA's record re: Bury vs Chester, I expect to see Rushden & Diamonds visit Stonebridge Road in the FA Trophy.

In regards the Bury FA Cup expulsion:

An FA statement said: "Bury selected Turnbull without receiving the required permission from Hartlepool United and lodging that permission with The FA.

Ah, oh wise and wondering fleet fan, some of us just like to be different.

The way I see things is that it is Darlington 0 Fleet 1 - a bit of an own goal!
