I believe we are called the Ducks because of the duck on the club badge. We were also known as the Pirates as it's believed Pirates used to smuggle their contraband ashore at Pitsea Creek. Which incidentally is why Bowers U18s manager calls himself Junior Pirate!!!

Yes Blanchy, the Duck was added when we changed from Bowers United to Bowers & Pitsea FC.

 

John Warner added it, i think I remember him saying it was a local breed!!! Compaq 7500 might be able to comment!!

 

The original BUFC badge was almost the same design, except the top left quadrant said BU and the bottom right quadrant, where the duck is now, said FC.

 

I still have an old Bowers United FC Number 10 shirt (Red & White stripes) with the original badge.

 

I have the distinction of being Bowers & Pitsea FC's first ever U18s manager.

We'll have to get Smallsy to get a shirt framed and present it to you at the presentation in May, for being Bowers & Pitsea's No.1 Fan.
