I dont know about any one else but his team selection puzzles me sometimes.for example at wealdstone he played some good midfielders however had better ones on the bench.at g.wakering he plays deji instead of sammy, and he plays mCcan for ages when it was clear to most fans he was a week link,he plays an out of form gilkes when he leaves spencer on the bench when he's been one of our best players recently.is it just me or has anyone noticed this as well?

The manager has a very different view of his team than that of the crowd.

One has to look at both sides of the coin. In the early part of the season when Tony Boot was not playing well if he made a mistake the crowd was baying for blood and for him to go. Then a couple of goals come and suddenly when he makes a mistake its "hard luck tony" or "unlucky Tony". The crowd has a very short term view of performances.

This has happened to a lot of players. It must be very difficult in your first few matches for Slough.

On the other hand it was quite clear that DJ was not up to standard. Thus you have to ask who scouted him, or did we buy(?) him on goals scored without looking at him.

In the case of McCann we see a different story. He did a job for us last year, but clearly was underperforming this. So the manager

1) Stuck with him too long hoping it was just a blip in form

2) Hasn't got the talent to see when a player is way off form.

3) Hasn't got the guts to drop a player

4) Resents being told how to do his job by the crowd, and stubbornly digs his feet in just to spite his critics.

Answers on a post-card !! Not sure which is my choice, but would suggest the best way to get rid of a player is for the crowd to tell the manager how good he is.

To be fair we dont always know which player is carrying an injury so some players may be on the bench because they can't make a whole match.

It is clear that everyone is on Sammy's case. Perhaps Sammy needed to be on the bench for one match to motivate him for the next few!

Remember someone once said "If you want to be a conductor you have to turn your back on the crowd" same goes for a football manager.
