Groundshare officially over

Recommended Posts

This week's edition of 'The Football Traveller' officially confirms that Kentish Town's groundshare agreement at Hendon has ended.

Given the 'stick' that Rhodes likes to dish out to Haringey Borough and Potters Bar Town for ending agreements AT THE END OF THE PLAYING SEASON, it will be interesting to get his views on Hendon's decision to chuck them out HALFWAY THROUGH a playing season!

Potters Bar Town - Thanks for the information but it's the first I have heard of it, when I last spoke to Hendon they said they would be more than happy to accommodate us again once the hallowed Claremont Road turf improves following the damage that was sadly done to it during the ill fated game with Cockfosters on 30 December when the Referee inexplicably carried on with the pitch ankle deep in water and mud in places.

Why would Hendon terminate the groundshare agreement when we were bringing huge publicity to the Club and they went down on bended knee to ask us for a friendly to give them match practice which, if you recall, we ended up winning 3-2 against their full first team. It wouldn't make any sense for them to unceremoniously show us the door Haringey Borough and Potters Bar Town style.

But that's just it. It wouldn't be Haringey Borough and Potters Bar Town style. It would be midway through the season. And just because it doesn't make sense to you, doesn't mean it won't happen.

Well we'll see what happens, I'm just saying that it would be Hendon's loss if they terminated the groundshare so why on earth would they, we also get on like a house on fire with them unlike at Coles Park and Parkfield where we were treated like naughty five year old school boys and dictated to in an Idi Amin and Robert Mugabe fashion.

I went to see 'The Last King of Scotland' last night, excellent film! Anyone missing the last part of the film would think Idi Amin was quite an amiable guy....

I saw it at the weekend...top film, brilliant performance by Forest Whitaker. Not actually a true story but most of the events did occur (apart from the end)

The version I've been given by the Hendon secretary (for those who aren't aware, I'm one of the Hendon webmasters) is that the groundshare agreement is being reviewed on a monthly basis and that we are hopeful we can help Kentish Town in staging their home games once the weather improves. There's certainly no suggestion that it's been ended permanently. At the moment however priority is being given to our first team games so that we aren't lumbered with a fixture pile up in our battle against relegation.

Not a great deal I suppose. Won the Isthmian League twice, won the FA Amateur Cup twice, reached the FA Cup Third Round once, reached the FA Cup First Round twenty times....

SteveR - Many thanks for your reassuring post, I think it's just Potters Bar Town trying to stir up trouble as usual as I speak to your Secretary on a weekly basis and he very much verify's what you say, you're all great people at Hendon who want to help us out unlike where we've groundshared previously, Idi Amin and Robert Mugabe are nice blokes compared to the people we've had to deal with in the past.
