Tonight's game

littlered

Happened at Folkestone season b4 last I think. Match had to be replayed. Can't recall time/score when they failed.

What a waste of bloody time and money, not just for me but for all the travelling fans. Lights went out with 20 odd minutes to go. They announced that the lights would be back on in 20 minutes. They came back on (partially), then off again. That was the last we heard. No official announcement of the game being abandoned, just some guy shouting across the pitch, so we all trudged out. Disgraceful in my opinion

Yep, not really surprising that considering that the ground looked like no one had spent a cent on it since the last time we played there...Apparently they have had a month to sort this problem out as they went during the last midweek home game.

...Not a bad way of making sure of the survival of your club. Get people to pay for a match and then abandon it with 20 minutes left, only to chage them again for the re match. Fantastic. Heybridge will be conned next week....

I would suggest that the Ryman League do something about them but for the certainty that they won't.

I think Heybridge should refuse to go unless Walton can deomstrate that the repair work has been done. There's clearly a problem that has been known about for some time now as the lights went out in a game in mid december... They came back on on that occasion but then Walton were winning at the time.

It's not had so much as a lick of paint since I first went there in 2000. Other clubs have been told to make safety improvements to their grounds (including emergency lighting for instances like floodlight failure) why haven't Walton? They can't plead poverty, as we all know they're happy to pay Ekoku good money.

I think the real pitty was simply that we had played one of the best first 45mins away from home. Quite simply put the tempo was fast and the build up play was really cutting. Joe looked on fire also and Burbs (i thought) put in a good work rate alongside, but in reality the whole team were putting on a real team performance which was even more pleasing. This could well fire this team up even more as up until the lights decided to go you really could not see Walton getting through.

Now, as for the lights. We all left without berating any officials etc, but it would have been a nice for them to have -

A) Made an official announcement without us second guessing the game was off.

B) Made a gesture of a discounted entry (eg) £2 off for the game when it will ever be re-scheduled on production of the raffle ticket thingy!

Ho hum these things happen.

Message to Heybridge...Take a back up generator!

But i still came away thinking of the positives from the performance - Well Done Lads applause2
