Hey whistle, this is good feedback, well done.

Something you might be able to help me on. I hear many times on the TV pundits saying players can't do this or do that now. Sometimes I am not always convince that there has been an official law change.

Take yesterday's Spurs v Newcastle game.

1)Was Berbatov's attempt to block Given's clearance really illegal? His foot was not high and if he does it after the ball has left the keepers hands where is the danger?

The law is quite clear that any attempt to stop a goalkeeper kicking the ball from his hands is an indirect free kick raising his foot doing so is dangerous play.

2)Is it automatic and written in the laws that if you raise your hands to an opponent you are off. Is a slight slap (done with no force ,with soft gloves on and not in an aggressive manner) really a straight red in all cases?

once again law 12 states "strikes or attempts to strike an opponent" and whether slight or not referees are given strict guidlines to send off, however personally it does in my oppinion depend on the manner done. generally after a foul, this can lead to retaliation (normally handbags) and a yellow would suffice.

hope this answers your questions. grin
