Match Saturday ??

Considering that Windsor's match was called off last Saturday due to "a couple of very soft areas which are dangerous" according to Windsor Sec on their forum (without much rain before hand), I don't hold much, if any hope of our game being played this coming Saturday considering it is supposed to rain from Tuesday onwards.

This is all we need frown

There was very little rain yesterday and it looks a fairly decent day today. It all depends on whether the dangerous areas of the pitch can be repaired in time.

It hammered down late yesterday afternoon and also during the night.

It is still very wet and very difficult to get any machinery on the pitch.

I will be very surprised if it goes ahead.

Christ my double glazing must be better than I thought as I missed all that rain. Looks like it will be 23 "home" games at the Slag - 14 weeks to fit them in.

Just been told (by my parents who popped down to the ground) that the pitch is a complete mud bath in the centre. Plus the fences have been blown done and are all over spectator areas.

Even if the pitch is deemed playable, the surrounding ground might not be fit for spectators.

This was at 11am (ish)

Yes, manoeuvreing your wellingtons about on the end of your legs and sticking a fork in pools of wet stuff must be blindingly tricky

Phil, if you actually took the time to go down and look at the pitch then you would see that there is no standing water on the pitch which makes forking un-necessary.

The problem is that the pitch has now soaked up the water making the top surface too wet to get anything on it.

I think it was about two thirds of the fencing that has come down but not sure what can be salvaged to put it back up again.

As for sanding the areas yes I suppose it would be a possibility but if that was the case I am sure we would have done that ourselves at the weekend.

I think that the entire surface is so soft and slippery that it would require sanding all over, and a hell of a lot of it. Don't think they could get that amount down there in such a short space of time.

Fair enough - I'm just concerned that we are/were giving up on a game 24 hours before it is due to be played. I'm sure there would be plenty of Slough volunteers down there to help out if it was requested early enough.

Indeed must of been very localised rain! Dry as a bone over here
