Chelmsford perspective

I've just been taking a look at the Chelmsford Message Board - they're not happy! They are even blaming the referee. Having said that, it sounds like the Bromley fans were also confused by some of his decisions. There's a nice bit from a Bromley fan saying he thought we're still the team to beat - youbetcha! And speculation from a Chelmsford fan that the 14th April could just be the title decider when we play them at their place. Of course, I'd still prefer to win it at Hartsdown against Ramsgate on Easter Monday. Imagine that!

If you look at the Bromley video of the game, you can understand why Chelmsford are feeling a tad aggrieved. Some strange decisions in there.

The game against Chelmsford will be very important, I think. I am just glad it is a day game, because last year it was just awful going down there at night.

I was unable to get to Hartsdown yesterday so I saw Bromley v Chelmsford. Overall it was a scrappy game in blustery conditions and a draw would have been a fair result.

Chelmsford took the lead just before half time.

There is no doubt a rather bizarre series of decisions by the ref in the second half changed the game. First, he gave a free-kick in the box against Chelmsford's keeper for holding on to the ball too long. It is very rare to see a free-kick given for that offence and I don't think you could say City's goalie was especially tardy. Anyway, Bromley score from the free-kick - yet it is disallowed for encroachment by the City wall! So Bromley are penalised for an offence committed by City players! Then the ref has a little chat with his lino and the decision is reversed.

City had a player sent off just after that but played well with ten men. It looked like finishing 1-1 when their keeper dropped a cross in injury time and Bromley scored.

City player that impressed me was Ricky Holmes. Plays wide on the right. Scrawy little fella but is quick and skilful.

Ah, my seaside soulmates, but there is still so many games to play! I wouldn't discount any of the top 6 or 7. It only takes a few bad injuries, another team to have a good run, someone splashing money within the transfer window and all our hopes could fade to desert sand.As a nomad, I am going to make "no mad" guess at this stage. Hampton and Richmond are on a terrific run as we speak and cannot be discounted!

What is crucial is we just cannot afford to drop points amongst the also-rans. And there are some tough games to play still away from HDP. And what is to happen on the Ground front - what implications has that got for our run-in!

If we keep our form that will get us into the play-offs. If we can better our form we have a chance on the title itself!

At this stage it is a case of keeping faith!

Abdullah foretells!

Have just watched the highlights - I feel that Bromley's second goal shouldn't have stood as although the keeper made a bit of a hash of the catch, he was fouled by a Bromley player before another scored. Can sympathise with Chelmo to a certain point, but thems the breaks!!!
