Here we go............

just got back and glad the roads were not too busy as exhausted from my side line support and shutter clicking. On that subject, ever time I took a shot then viewed it a WW player had the ball.

Got there in plenty of time, had a cup of tea, are you getting the idea I don’t want to tell the tale. What I will say is that West Wickhams Central League position says nothing about the side.

WW took the kick off, and according to the ref it was 10 seconds to the first goal. So Margate are 0-1 up. WW passed the ball back and back, Shane chased and chased, ball arrived at keepers feet and so did Shane. Blocked clearance and goal. This must be one of the all time quickest.

From here on the game was a mid-field stalemate, with neither keeper worried, both side founding it hard to build on possession. The game ebbed and flowed for most of the half and I felt that at time s WW were the better side, Margate living on that early goal) and as halt time came WW team talk might have been more positive than Margate’s.

Fitness tells. 2nd half and Margate tune up the tempo as fitness and class tell. Soon into their stride Margate control the game and sure enough some fine passing see’s Shane get his second as WW wilt. Another quick passing move gives Chris a rear chance to take on the keeper and 3 nil. A lovely passing move from Johnny, Aulti and finally to Shane gives Margate a 4 nil lead. Not all over yet as an out of the blue driving shot from outside the box give WW a life line but not much else. Then with about ten to go WW are awarded a pen for a rash tackle, Matt dives the wrong way and it`s 2-4 at the whistle. One down to the game saw Dan Hughes who came on with 20 to go taken off after a hefty challenge and a well swollen ankle, a bit of a theme of the day.

My MOTM - Lewis Collis, a very physical player who kept his cool and set the Gate on their way over and over with simple telling passing. Also high on the list was Johnny in mid field, Matt Bowles in goal and captain Olti, a bit of show boating also came our way. There was also nearly a 5th for Margate from Chris. A lob beat the keeper, Shane wanted to make sure and touched it in only to be flaged OS.

Next round we are at home to either Welling or Thamesmead (playing Thamesmead next week in semi PLAAYA Cup).

Oh so close now. A great bunch of lads who deserve something, but that`s not in any football script is it.
