Not dissimilar to the Heybridge game (minus the wind) in that the oppo were very much looking for the point and to that end their objective was achieved

We won the woodwork battle 2-1 and had one chalked off for offside. On the positive side we have stayed in 5th spot and another clean sheet for Ronnie, he and his defenders did well again. I thought our midfield looked a bit tired. Perhaps we could consider giving Hodgie and/or Danny Hill a start on Tuesday to freshen it up a bit. I also felt a bit sorry for Flackie, he seemed to be doing two men's work for me at times, hopefully we can find another suitable striker soon.

We need to get back on the winning trail and hopefully that will be Tuesday. Crowd of 555 was good for a bread and butter game. It's still all to play for.

Macca Heffer Blewitt Kerrigan

Whelpdale Hunter Game (Hodges) Dormer

Burbridge (Poole) Flack

Not as good a performance as we'd liked despite hitting the woodwork twice and going close a couple of times. I fully agree that Boreham Wood looed as if they were happy with a draw and if the reaction of the No. 9 was anything to go by, obviously were pleased by the result...Still, we're still 5th and now 6 points off the top...again.

...Which brings me to the surrounding area from which Boreham Wood come from. Being that Elstree is close by their gaff, I'd complain to the Eastenders production team about the No. 9 for a really poor performance.

Overall, no real damage done the moment. I would agree that the sooner we get to winning was the better and hopefully that will be at Walton. As for a new striker, Matt is doing all he can to get the right striker for the team, for the right money, with the right attitude who wants to play for us. Obviously that player's club will want to release him as well. Matt said that he refuses to bring someone in that after two weeks turns out not to fulfill any of the above because, as much as the (some) supporters want a "bum on the bench" quickly, if the player doesn't do it on the pitch, they will not be backward in coming forward to criticize said players performance. It would also send out the wrong message as to what type of manager and club we are if said player was "lost" or went missing in action....He asked if anyone can remember Tom Beech? He is not going down that route of getting a player in quickly just to fill a "breech" until the right one comes along.

Matt is actively searching for the right type of player. If anyone wants to ask him the question (or indeed any question), he will be only too pleased to answer. Every Thursday you will find the team and the management in the Clubhouse. If you have any questions about the club or the team, come down, enjoy a drink at the bar and mix...Matt and any of the management team are approachable and will answer any question about the team.

Oh and priceless moment of the day

Borehamwood number 8 who is white, black haired and lardy clatters into one of our players.

Hapless ref goes to book their number 7 who is black and skinny with bleach blond hair.

Unsurprisingly ref picks up mystery injury at half-time and has to be replaced.

Have to aggree with the lack lustre perfomance from the right side of the midfield, disagreee with the Flackie comment, thought he was below par on his work rate in shutting down the full back and allowing him to carry the ball into our half.I would rather see him splitting the centre back & full back instead of standing beside the centre back. Thought Burbs played extremeley well winning pretty well everything in the air both up front and in our own box when under pressure from corners & free kicks against, also unlucky with a strong header against the crossbar.Another good performance from Ronnie, nice to see him start to come of his line a bit more to command his box.Hopefully we can get back to winning ways on Tuesday.

Funny how we all see things differently! I thought Flackie played well and worked hard. Burbridge for me looked well off the pace. I thought we missed Whelps usual influence on the game, he tried, but could never fully get into it. The Borehamwood number 2 played a blinder, saved 'em a few times.

First half we did well I thought, second half not so good. We went aerial too often which doesn't play to our strengths, both strikers are better with the ball played into feet. We lacked a bit of zip, and I might be tempted to try and feshen things up a bit for Tuesday - Hill and Hodges to be brought in imho. Boreham Wood worked hard to get men behind the ball in the 2nd half in particular, and we needed to think a bit more about how to break them down, all to often we went for hopeful balls over the top.

Good to see another clean sheet, and I thought the strikers did Ok given the lack of quality service from midfield.

Boreham Wood are something of a bogey for us, not been good either game but taken 2 points.

Margate were the best team I've seen for 45 minutes against us but faded badly and we beat em 2nd half. I reckon it'll stay tight for a good few games yet, nobody in my opinion has the quality to pull away from the pack.

I'd say Margate are still the best side I've seen this season, then Horsham, then Staines. Boreham Wood looked a decent outfit and were definately one of the better sides. Our away form will now come under close scrutiny. How's this for an away fixture list for the next few games,

Walton & H

Tonbridge

Heybridge

Wimbledon

Margate

Hampton

Happy days!

I guess the positives are that we are becoming a mean team to score against. The back four really do look to have a good understanding. We did create three/four oppotunites but the bar did thwart us and a disallowed goal. Another day they may have gone in, but the biggest plus is that even though we did not get that breakthrough it is also worth noting that (if this had been played 1 or 2 years back) then Boreham "Wood" have gone onto nick a winner. To me there looks a more determined bunch of lads after being together for (some of them) best part of 3 years now. I am sure the goals will start to come again, but as has already been said we have come through what were potentially very losable games.

Keep plugging away lads !!
