Nathan Elder makes professional debut

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Just an update:

Today was a big day for Nathan when he was introduced to the home fans for the first since his arrival from your club. He got a standing ovation as he was announced over the tannoy as the players warmed up. He made his first appearance in the 70th minute of the game against Millwall and immediately made his prescence known amongst the Millwall defenders and had one backwards glancing header that the keeper had to make a superb save to keep out.

We are going through a bad spell at the moment and once again we lost today.

Nathan played earlier in the week for our reserve side and was very impressive according to the local paper

"Nathan Elder celebrated his Albion debut by hitting the target last night and said: "I could have got a hat-trick but the goal put a smile on my face."

Elder made the second goal for Joe Gatting and went close twice more himself as he helped the Seagulls seal a fourth round spot away to Hassocks in the Sussex Senior Cup.

The striker averaged a goal-agame for non-League Billericay at the beginning of the season but has been short of match-practice.

But he did enough to suggest his raw talent could be developed.

He said: "I loved it out there. I didn't do too badly, although fitness was a bit of a problem in the end.

"But I worked hard and my legs told me so.

"To score was massive for me and I could have had two or three. But scoring certainly made me smile."

Martin Hinshelwood, in charge of Albion, said: "Nathan did all right.

He is shattered now but it was an encouraging start and he took his goal well.
