We are top but could be further in front with a better right sided midfielder.

Perhaps I am expecting too much when I ask for him to pass the ball to one of our players once in a while.

I am not in the habit of heckling or booing any of the team at the game.

I just like to air my opinions here.

That you do not like me is and has in the past been very evident and old news. I can assure you that your feelings are emphatically reciprocated.

It is a shame that the new-style forum does not allow ignoring of individuals' posts, I have had you on 'ignore' for months and that worked for me, but I have not found a way to do it within the new set-up so just normally pass by your posts without reading them.

In my post, if you had read it carefully, I never referred to any supporter being any the worst or better than any other. I just expressed a personal view that the support at away games was, quote, 'out of this world'. Those that attend away games are of course at liberty to agree or disagree with that.

 

Please feel free to continue with this if you choose, secure in the knowledge that I actually do not give a flying fart what you say on any subject. It is a shame, because once or twice I have caught you saying something passing accurate about football. If you had kept to that I might have been able to tolerate you.

I thought Abbo has been ok this season didnt rate him when he was with us before. He has been poor in the last few games but i think hes low on confidence at the moment lets all get behind him and the team. After all he is playing in a TEAM sitting at the top of the league.

THANK-YOU GRINGO,your post said everything about what a GATE fan should mean.This team of ours is on TOP YES ON TOP of the league,and you still get so called FANS,slaging off the players.When/If,we win this league they will all be holding there hands out trying to shake the hands of the players that done us so proud,if and when that happens I hope all the fans that have slagged off our players take a back seat and tell them they were wrong.At the end of the day they try there hardest for the GATE.

I thought both Proths and Pinnock had good games today and, but for Oates error, we should have won this more comfortably!

 

Oates is having a better season than last year, and I still think he is one of the best at our level. It was a silly error today, but I think nothing more needs to be said! I suspect quite a bit was said in the dressing room at half-time! He is capable of more!

The last two home games have been played in poor conditions and we have dug in and won both! say no more!!!!! As for abbo he's low in confidence and in life some people thrive on being shouted at and some need nice encouragement! I think he needs the second option!

the away record is better because teams at home try and attack more when at hartsdown they just come to defend and are often hard to break down.we are doing very well i am certainly not complaining but the team needs strengthening if we want tio challenge for the title.im sure we will get to theplayoffs but it then is a lottery

I just thought i would add my views re:Paul Abbott, who i certainly think is a Ryman standard player and could be better.

 

I'm delighted to see him in a 'Gate squad, but have to admit he probably is not our most outstanding player,and i have previously questioned whether he should be in the startying line up- but it is a team game and 11 brilliant individuald may overall do worse than a team of 11 average players.

Others correctly point out that with Abbo there, we have secured top position and also talk of his strengths.

 

Thinking some more about his game,if i were Jay or Provs. ,then Abbo would be my favourite player because inevitably he finds space to receive their pass.

Finding space is a skill in itself and Abbo has the knack of always being free-that gives an outlet to midfield and i have come to recognise that he therefore is a key player.

 

(compare him with Aaron Robinson who had the knack of always being in the wrong postion/marked and was never free to receive the pass on the left )Finding space is thus a skill in its own right

Maybe our expectations of Abbott putting crosses in like Beckham are a bit high !!

 

In fairness aswell, particularly in the first half ,there was only DH up front to recive crosses against 5 defenders so its not surprisding that he often failed to find a Margate player.

In second half Pinns played more forward so he had more to aim at.

 

I finally came to appreciate Abbotts game and RT's tactics on the right on saturday, and think we (and i) should value his contribution more highly.

I think he is capable of scoring more, but that would defeat the object of 'always being available to receive the pass on the right'

Meant to add on a separate note that i thought Skinner put in a flawless performance,and that we owed so much yesterday to both Jay and Lee Protheroe for controlling the game from midfield.

 

Understandably on a difficult pitch ,there were one or two misplaced passes, but i thought in such conditions that Lee Protheroes creative passing and vision were sublime and a joy to watch.

 

(i also thought Worthing were a better side than one or two posts suggest- so even more credit for the win imo.

Worthing like all teams in the league this year cannot be classified as "easy" games as can be seen by results. So many of the clubs in the leading group of 10 have suffered "shock" results against the other 12 meaning that the Rymans is the tightest it must have been in its history

 

As regards to Skinner of course he is flawless. Must be the shirt, based on the number 3 in the supporters team today

Good couple of posts Michael, sums up my view of Abbo in one! The guy tries hard and in my book thats what really counts. Really can't believe some of the comments on here and I agree with those who say look at the table we are TOP! Maybe, dare I suggest, the ones who gripe are ones who have something to lose (Bet???)
