Conditions got worse as they game went on. No way that pitch will be ready for next week unless the weather changes dramatically.Even then I doubt it will be fit.No amount of that great hard work by Ray & his buddies will get that prepared for next week. If he does & the weather holds then it will have been a miracle if its passed fit. These conditions certainly don't help us.It dosen't suit our style of play at all.Despite that we still made it hard work for ourselves. Worthing were no better than they were when we beat them at their place. In fact I thought they were worse. They had their moments in the first half for sure & could have gone into the break a goal up but that was mainly down to our defence going missing on occasions.

Their goal,& what a mix up, must go down to Scott.Yes Oates was involved but Scott really has to take charge in those circumstances. Push Oates out of the way if need be but he HAS to make those balls his own.

Two decent goals but what a struggle it ended up to be. We were miles the better team & the score dosen't really reflect the difference in class today. However even the poor Worthing side & the conditions kept the game on a knife-edge. We won comfortably but it could so easily have gone wrong.

Sappleton was brilliant at the back. Nice to see both Pinns & Danny back on the scoresheet.

3 points is all that matters & thats what the records will say. Chelmsford losing puts us back on top but despite conditions such as todays we have to up our form otherwise we wont be there for long. Like others have said the drier ground will suit us much better but for now we are doing what we have to do without shining or getting into top gear. That win was worked hard for & we had some good fortune too.But no-one can say it wasn't deserved overall. We can do much much better than that & we are going to have to but I'm sure we will!

Completely agree with your assessment above Cookie, especially Worthing's lack of quality. I would also like to mention the following:

Two of your best players having a heated row on the pitch is unprofessional and disrupts the team. I don't know what it is with those two, but it has been going on for months. RT will have to sort it out or else one of them will have to be released. Perhaps MF should be the one to speak to them, what with him having personal experience in that line.

Not to mention the appalling bad language, which could clearly be heard by youngsters in the stands.

Sap would be my MOM too. Right attitude, superb defending.

I agree the keeper should have shouted. I also think he needs to work on his kicking.

Once again other results have favoured us. How many times has that happened this season? Hope we dont get a season of bad luck to compensate!

I thought Abbo was a pile of c**p today.

About time he was dropped. No confidence in a winning team is unbelievable.

As for Provs and Jay squaring up that needs to be sorted asap.

I was embarrassed to see that.

I would give Pat m.o.m and SCS kicking lessons.

But a win is a win and I will take that all season.

Re. midfield:

Macca had a run around in the warm-up so he can't be far away.

Personally I would play Jay-McK-Deano-Jacko for the time being and drop JP. Proths has lost effectiveness on the heavier pitches, so really it's down to his long-range shooting, which gets us a goal about every 6 matches. Also I don't want to see that nonsense we saw today carrying on.

Abbo does one thing really well: runs down the wing and takes on the fullback. But that's no good if his crosses go into the stands or if he is pulling out of 50-50 tackles, which is basically what we have seen too much of. So he should be on the bench until he shows he has addressed those issues.

Re; Ian Sanderson. He did wish us well today. He asked Worthing via the Ryman Forum to beat us. Now we all know how things like that pan out don't we? Remind me someone, what were Thanets two results today.Another own goal merchant.Your club should be proud of you Ian.I love you to death...Keep up with the best wishes to our team,& the demise of yours. Its all down to your words mate!!

Actually I was throwing it back to Danny for a corner to be taken.I heard a whisper to take my time hence hitting my intended & precise target. You really don't think that was done ACCIDENTALLY do you! I was told to play for time so I did....... expertly. Ahh, little did you know!

I don't think Abbo was as bad as you say today, Chris.

He certainly managed to carve out a good channel on the left many times during the match, he was hard to mark, and he was getting the better of the defenders on pace, and winning corners, and getting crosses in.

It would be an error to underestimate the conditions out there today, this was not a pitch that was conducive to complete accuracy, and there was a vicious crosswind that was not evident from the stands.

Seeing as he is the player of the moment for everyone to hate, give him a bit of slack. We won, and we are top of the league, and he has played in a lot of games that have got us there. He must be doing some things right.

A well ground out result today after the defensive fumble for their equaliser. I think Abbo had a mixed game, but he did lose his defender several times. Also must say it was a great cross from JJ to set up Hockton for his goal, and Pinnock played well too. Didn't see the SCS incident but agree that the ref had a mized day. Most importantly we kept up the pressure on other sides in the league.
