Oh dear is all I have to say on the matter.

Nights this week, got called back to work this morning having taken something home with me that I shouldn't have, finally got to bed about 10am.....

.....went to set the alarm and then decided not to bother.

Seems I missed yet another crap cup display then?

It's a game of opinions Brian ( or Mike in this case).........not a great game, but a quite even one, with not to many clear cut chances, could have gone either way, except we didn't score !

...but still, probably made someone's weekend, the fact that we lost ( i.e. the moaning bast*rds).

cheers,

The game was even, we probably made more chances, but couldn't finish them. Midfield had quite a good game, defence still looks dodgy without McCarthy. We gave them a lot of problems after the goal went in, not enough though.

AFC Wimbledon's tactics were atrocious, they just seemed intent on taking the players out rather then winning the ball, the ref could've easily sent about 3 or 4 of them off.

That's another point, the ref was awful and looked like he didn't know the rules.

Was their corner before their goal a corner, to me it looked as if it took a big deflection, but I've heard a few people say it just curled a lot.

For what they are worth, my thoughts.

1. In the 1st half, I thought our technical superiority was clear & could only see the officials from the Toytown League stopping us: absurd ref & "Ooooh, do you want me to make a decision, can I change my pants first?" linesmen.

2. In the 2nd half, AFC W started to play football. OK, their goal came from a non corner, but they deserved it.

3. We have to have some strong, physical players in the squad to help us muscle through games such as these. This team will do well in the Conference National, but is always likely to struggle & look lightweight against well organised teams with big strong defenders.

4. As supporters, we were shameful today:

I shout my mouth off from the centre stand, but shut up in the end today, because I was embarrassed at the sound of my lone voice. We are too bloody quiet, Unless we are winning, nobody opens their trap, except to moan, You don't start off playing like world beaters in every game. Sometimes you have to graft it out - & that goes for the supporters too.

The drummer & crew try their best, but can we stop that unnecessary "shove your [****!!****] whatever up your a*rse" chant. It makes us sound pathetic. "You can shove your furry wombles where it's dark" says exactly the same thing & makes everyone laugh rather than cringe.

Wimbledon's supporters were magnificent. Well done to you. You will get to the football league one day. Probably before us.

Until & unless we get support like that, we can forget it. No matter what miracles Liam works.

We were poor today. Yet again we seem to be obsessed with hoofing the ball. It doesn't work so why do we keep on doing it?

Why did we keep playing the ball wide? On the rare occasion we ran at them our speed/fitness showed but was coupled with poor finishing. The midfield today was non-existent.

The team clearly suffered without McCarthy. There have been numerous calls on this forum for Liam to sign a striker during the transfer period, but we need to look at our defence too. When you have players out injured and suspended we don't have a lot of options.

All I can say is - We must be concentrating on the league!!

Words of wisdom. Without Paul at the back we are not even half the team. Has to be the priority signing. No disrespect to Ross, Peter or James, but without a Macca you aren't as effective, boys.

OK, AFC were dirty, the ref was a bufoon, but we were bloody awful too!!

Why wasn't Quinny replaced until 70 mins?

He had a mare, and must have been glad to be taken off.

Smudger kept treading on the ball, roll on when Macca is back.

This only shows up our shortcomings;

Lack of defensive cover,

Lack of striking otions,

Lack of strength when we neen to outmuscle opponents.

Lack of squad depth at present.

As Emily said, why play hoof it football?

We all know it doesn't work, so why do it???????

Where did you get them from Mike? Reason I ask is on the FA Website it says Stevenage won 3-1? I don't know who to believe. I predicted Stevenage to win 3-0 in the APT Trohpy (one for confguiders) so I'm quite interested to know the final result.

Looking at those results and who is still left in the competition basically our name was already on the Trophy.

Thats where I was standing Emily, we were going wild and the air turned pretty blue. It certainly looked over the line before it was headed back out.

If it had been allowed that would almost certainly have meant a replay on Tuesday and I doubt if anyone wanted that.

We certainly missed Macca today as well as Charlie but I think we look half the attacking force without Keeling, lets hope all three are back for Exeter.

I was a bit dissapointed that John Akinde didn't get a run out towards the end, he has obviously been doing well with the youth team and looks like a big lad with an eye for a goal, today would have been a good chance to see what he can do.

Also, any reason De Bolla never gets a run-out up front when he's played as a striker for the most part up until arriving at the Fleet? If Liam currently prefers Coleman to De Bolla in midfield, then I for one would like to see what DB can do up front.

Did not surprise me that we lost, we have a habit of losing to Ryman Premier League opposition, hence Bromley, Tonbridge Angels, Chelmsford City, Boreham Wood, and now AFC Wimbledon. The Ryman Premier League haunts us still.

Credit to AFC Wimbledon, a good bunch of supporters, played some fantastic football, we just were not on the ball today, missed Paul MacCarthy in defence and Charlie MacDonald up front, hope they return for the Exeter City tie.
