Uxbridge game rearranged

Let me just add to my post above.

I know people at the club work hard to get games on and don't get much credit when they go ahead but sooner or later we're going to have to play on the pitch! It's getting embarrsing now and imo could cost us our rightful league postion

He's only quoting your chairman for the start of the season. His words are really starting to sound pretty hollow. All these postponements are causing problems for both clubs. Are we both going to have to rearrange matches for elsewhere?

Martin, what problems have you had then, I thought Roy did all the arrangements and he hasn't had any problems fitting your games in?

As for SR1's comments I suggest you read the bit in the Maidenhead report where they say their pitch is worse than ours - just think of the problems you may have faced had your wish to go there come true!

Widnsor Sec - I agree with you about Maidenhead. I work in Maidenhead and I know that a drop of rain sees their pitched waterlogged. It was the only reservation I had about going there when it was discussed in the close season.

I never said that we had trouble rearranging the games the problem is that between us we probably have over twenty more home games to arrange between now and the end of the season. With only three and half months to go and with a wet and mild winter and spring to come the problems may get worse and postponements continue. Let's hope for both clubs that is not the case.

Zoom do you ask any questions that make sense?

I belive your question should read - "Do you ever post anything interesting?

The quality of the pitch is a very key issue to both teams as explained by Martin above.

Zoom are you looking forward to playing more that two games a week at the end of the season? as with further postponments this is becoming a worrying prospect!

One of the reasons that Slough Town are playing at Stag Meadow is that there were promises that the pitch would be in better condition than last season - yet this has not been the case. Yes I am aware of the work done in the summer and that this over-ran giving little time for the grass to fully grow before games were played - however what is worrying news is the now waterlogged areas that are reluctant to drain.

Whilst this situation remains, yes I will post, as having a playable pitch will be critical to Slough's chances of salvaging anything from this season.

More than two games a week will not be an issue unless at least 8 more games get postponed but we are facing the wettest winter since 2001 which does have a major impact on all sports pitches.

Last week saw a machine in use that breaks up the compaction under the soil and we're hoping this will alleviate the problem once and for all. It's ironic that our efforts to provide a flatter surface this year has actually caused compaction to the under-layer which in turn means the water couldn't get through to the drains - like I said, hopefully this will now be cured!

Saturdays' postponement was an unfortunate case in question as it was actually the machine going through the muddy areas which made the pitch dangerous, which again was ironic seeing as the work it did made all the surface water disappear!

You are a knob of the worst kind. Ok so windsor messed up by not laying the pitch quick enough, i can assure you that whatever the reasons were (they're usually financial as far as non-league clubs are concerned and i'm sure as a slough fan you can sympathise with that) the club is working as hard as it can to sort the situaton out. Supporters are equally as fed up with games being called off as i found myself this saturday travelling to windsor from south london, and others found travelling down to the new forest the week last.

Thats the situation whether we like it or not and it's no secret that Stag Meadow is blessed with clay soil so postponements are hardly a rarity. The club has done much work over the last ten years but due to the nature of the soil it is not a problem that you can just thrown money at once and thats it.

If i was a slough fan i would not spend my time antagonising windsor supporters on here given the state and prospects of your squalid little bit of non-league. If windsor didn't groundshare you would have gone to the wall and certainly your small supporter base would not have had the option of travelling two miles to watch their team.

So to summarise stop bleating about the [****!!****] pitch, we know. Try putting your time into sorting out how your club moves forward and back across into bucks where you belong as beleive it or not we don't want you at stag meadow but we don't want to see you go to the wall either.

To be honest most slough fans are okay but Some like STR1 give the honest 'die hards' a bad name. A number of time i've seen/heard or read stuff from slough fans which must make the good honest supporters cringe. Most of them are like us. Apart from the 3 nipples and 22 toes they are supporting their local side!

Chels - it is the fact that we ground share that makes this thread of interest to both sets of fans. I think it is the disgraceful behaviour and lack of intelligence of some Windsor fans that give the rest of your club a bad name.

Windsor Sec - I actually do feel sorry for you (Windsor) on this issue. Efforts were made improve the pitch over the close season and you have now been scuppered by the weather which is causing different problems. However, the work on the pitch started too late and it doesn't take a genius to know that we are going to be having wetter and milder winters from now on. With the forecast as it is for the rest of the week you have to wonder whether the pitch will be ready for Saturday.

Hammerman and I were having a discussion about fixtures just the other day. Is it feasible to play 2 games a week from the beginning of the season instead of just playing Saturdays? This would then counteract the games postponed over the winter and we wouldn’t have to worry about rearranging lots of games at the end of the season.

You are misguided. It's staines rebel or whatever he's called that keeps coming on here and giving it the large ones about the pitch, fair enough once or twice but given thats all he ever posts it's fair to say we've all had enough of it. I think windsor fans have and are showing remarkable restraint given such provacation and i must say i'd have thought better from soneone representing his club.

Humpty, it has been the case for a while that he leagues always keep the Tuesdays in the early season empty for cup replays and league cup games.

I am not saying thatthis is the best thing to do but it is something that has been done across this level for a while now.
