I think it shows that he is more worried about being a star than a footballer, surely an athlete wants to play at the highest possible level not some second rate p!ss pot league. Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t turn down the money but then i have no problem selling out either.

 

Another problem is the last time the Americans went silly with buying up all the best players at the end of their carriers for oscine money the NAFL went bust very very quickly. i can see the MLS doing the same

I honestly don't believe he is doing it for the money - he has categorically stated that he wants to help raise the profile of "soccer" in the States.

 

I'm sure that if it wasn't the United States he would have gone to Africa to help raise the profile of "soccer" there at far less of a salary ......

I've heard him talk before about wanting to help and train kids and he sounded genuine enough. Whilst I don't doubt the reported 500K a week he'll earn has helped persuade him to take the post, I do believe he wants to help improve the image of the sport out there. I wish him all the best and hope he manages to do what a lot of other people have failed to do - get America interested in football. USA are the only country in the world that regularly qualifies for the World Cup, yet doesn't even care about it. That needs to change. Whether Beckham can do that or not is another matter.

That is absolute boll*cks! He could do that after his career was over in 5 years or even help them do that while he was playing for another team.

 

Beckham was recently harping on about wanting to get back into the England team. Usually saying this while he was on the latest promotional duty for his aftershave or clothes line! Enough said there!

 

Then Real realise that he is more interested in promoting himself at premieres and fashion shows and in America with his new money-making scheme. The soccer school. Yes, a good cause but for millions of money and high profile attention at the same time.

 

So, he gets dropped by Real for not showing the same enthusiasm as when he first joined. Anyone who doesn't agree with this should look at the way he played for the club when he first joined. He was all over the place, scoring and pulling out sweet crosses. And it had nothing to do with his pace. He showed a genuine love for playing for that club. Over the years there, he either gets used to it too much or he is seduced by off the field antics. Probably the second one. The last 18 months, he has looked like he wasn't bothered for Real and his bad attitude towards them didn't help.

 

His fuc*ing skinny, malnutritioned, ugly, horse lookalike of a wife then gets fed up with being a model wannabe in europe and sees the chance to go to America and promote herself there. Beckham's school who is incidentally co-founded by the money men behind LA Galaxy, takes off and before you know it, an offer to get even more money to join LA comes up.

 

Look, Posh at first has pop stardom, then model stardom in europe and now i guarantee, she sees a chance to get into acting like liz hurley did a few years ago. And dont rule out Becks appearing in the next Mission Impossible movie or something. She is the devil on his shoulder. Although, he is just as bad. He could have joined a premiership club for less money and done all of this in 5 years. But greed has got the better of him. Good riddance to the greedy idiot. Football will be better without him over here.

He didn't join Real Madrid for the football. He joint them for the same (part) reasons he's gone to the MLS - the marketing possibilities. Real signed him to make money from him and whilst the MLS clearly want to promote the sport, the basic idea is the same.
