Carshalton Ath vs Slough Town - UPDATES

Four of their goals were almost identical - one on one's with the new keeper (who was on loan for one game from Marlow I understand as Farrow was stuck somewhere).

First half was fairly even with us having the wind advantage. Decent poachers goal from Abbey for the first. They then scored their first one on one, then with their second they scored again. Abbey had a great chance to equalise when he was clean through but their keeper made a decent save.

Second half they were the better side early on with the wind, but we had a goal disallowed through Miller for offside.

Soon after they made it 3-1 and the floodgates opened.

Thought there were a couple of plus points. Sulliman looks a decent player and Abbey also had a decent first half. We desperately need some pace alongside Steve at the back though and would be better off in my opinion in a 5-3-2.

5-1 was a harsh scoreline, but they did deserve to win.

Would agree with Chris. They did take pretty much every clear cut chance they created whereas Abbey could have had a hat trick but for a good save and a block and Miller was unlucky not to get a goal.

I wasn't criticising the team's fitness levels but we have played so rarely a full 90 minutes recenlty and in those blustery conditions it was always going to be hard. Also with a few players on loan they can't often train with us and a few of them may be overcoming injuries which is why they were allowed out on loan in the first place.

No complaints that we lost although 5-1 flattered Carshalton a bit. The players worked hard and kept going until the end but the clinical finishing of their gypsy up front proved to be the difference.

How refreshing it is to see players in a Slough shirt giving their all. Ten times more effort than what we were getting from the charlies earlier in the season. A team with Wallace, Jarvis and co would not have got applauded off the field after losing 5-1 that is for sure.

Fitness certainly told towards the end of the match and it was pretty evident that our players had not played as a team before - such as when Jon Lewis (defender, not sure of his name) went for the same header as skipper despite him shouting DALY, probably because he doesn't know who DALY is. Ho hum.

It was nice of Westy to say thanks to the supporters after the match. I just hope that was a gesture for the way we clapped the boys off at the end rather than a farewell gesture.

Its sad to say,but daly is not as good as he used to be.When he comes up against these fit younger lads he is a yard to slow with them.Good still in the air but certainly not fit enough, which you have to be even more so coming up against younger and fitter players! But sayingthat he has been a great captain for us in the past.

I'm in agreement, The 5-1 scoreline flattered Carshalton. Four goals on the break and an own goal.

It was really good to have scored a goal at last. Well taken by Abbey.

As KT said, the players worked hard all the way through, lots of good attitude, and the fans were at their best.

Even though it was a 5-1 defeat, I say - Well done to the players.
