The Way Forward for Slough

If you want to read my article that would have been in yestersdays programme go to my blog.

It's about whether we should become a Trust run club including a big interview with an Enfield Town supporter - the first fans run club in the country.

This will be followed with an interview with Martin, whose on the Trust board, in the programme for our next postponed game.

Oh and if someone can tell me why the text on the blog keeps changing colours and how i can add links that would be appreciated.

Excellent read as ever Warren.

As someone who admittedly gave up on the Rebels long before their current woes, whenever I do make the rare journey out into the sticks to watch them, the only thing that ever impresses me is the continuing commitment and good humour of a small set of die hard fans.

I’m interested to hear how a fan’s consortium or supporter’s trust would actually go about taking control of the club though; something that isn’t really addressed in the article. Would the present incumbents (whoever they may be) be easily persuaded to hand over the reigns to the fans given the current dire situation they seem to be in, or would something more drastic be required?

Cheers

Mark

Problem is Mark the whole issue of ownership of Slough Town is now very convoluted. A new company took over the club at the end of last season and was ratified by the FA. This company was reliant on sponsorship by Martyn Deaner who headed the consortium that previously owned the club's name. Apparently the FA sought reassurances from Deaner as to wages and debts etc. Deaner has long said that should he walk away he would want to hand over the club to the trust "debt free." Whether this can any longer be achieved I'm not certain. Has the actual ownership of the name Slough Town FC been transferred to the new company? I don't know.
