ChallangeTrophy why were Bigg Utd thrown out?

Recommended Posts

Why were Bigg utd thrown out of the SSML Challange Trophy after they beat Tring?

Tring now take their place, and it sets up two gams in a row as we have them at home in the league on Jan 13th and in the QF of the Challange Trophy on the 16th.

I know you probably won't see this gavin as I have managed to get onto your ignore list...(oh the honour!!) however haven't you got a tie v MK Scot first before you reach the quarter final...yet another example of chicken counting me thinks even if the form book and league posititions suggest you should win comfortably.

HTFCew - Thanks for this information, I was very surprised as it's surely not a mistake Tracey James would make.

Well, that's blown her chances of a double victory in the Secretary of the Season comp!

I thought that John Bacon's name was on it this season.

Would you have liked to, I would have thought that with your experience, skills and knowledge you would have at least been short listed.

no prize money for winning Challenge trophy last year. New sponsors may offer some money but I don't know for sure.

My question was re the league title, but now you mention it, do you get any money for winning either of the cups?

As you say, I would guess Molten being the sponsors of the league sponsor the cups, and therefore it would be down to them.

I'm pretty sure that there's no money for winning anything, Gavin.

Sorry Horace, what do you mean, if it's 'why' should John Bacon win the award isn't that obvious.

Well that's strange logic, surely it's the biggest honour that a Club Secretary can have bestowed on him, or in Tracey James case last season, her.

Not strange at all. There appears to be no logical criteria for winning such an award other than keeping your nose clean. However, there area always going to be occasions when you need to iron out issues with League Officers for the benefit of your club (and, ultimately, all clubs) and they don't like their noses being put out of joint - even when they know you're right. For that reason, I've never expected to win it as I've always been prepared to put the club before any personal accolades.

I think that's possibly what makes John Bacon a good candidate as he is 'a goody two shoes' who doesn't like ruffling feathers and, as you say, likes to keep his nose clean come what may.
